Monday Musings 02/18/13

Welcome one and all to Monday Musings!

Monday Musings serves multiple purposes:

1. I’ll update everyone to changes in relation to the blog including new features, modified formats to existing ones, and anything else blog-related.
2. I’ll reveal the character I’m going to feature in my Character Spotlight article this week.
3. I’ll gather up the links to all the blog postings that I’ve made since last week’s Monday Musings
4. I’ll reveal my Top 3 Comics of the Week though I won’t tell you which one finishes first, second, third until the actual article comes out (got to give you all a reason to check it out)
5. I’ll reveal what issues I’ll be reviewing in each part of Bullet Points.

Blog Updates

I’m quite thrilled that Dan Schoening mentioned my blog on his Twitter account @Dapperpomade giving a shout-out to my Covers of the Week posting for 02/13/13 where I awarded him the Third place prize. So cool that he took the time to mention me and it was definitely an unexpected surprise yesterday! I met him last year at FanExpo Vancouver and hope he’ll show up again this year. A great guy and a fantastic artist! Otherwise, I’m getting back into the swing of things in regards to Bullet Points and you should be seeing the first round released this week along with my Top 3 for 12/05/12 which is currently in the rough draft stage. Other than that, everything is pretty much normal.

  1. Another New 52 series starting in June has been revealed:

    http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/03/02/ray-fawkes-and-daniel-sampere-on-pandora-comic-for-dc-new-52/

Honestly, this is another choice I really can’t understand. Pandora is a supporting character of a C – list series (The Phantom Stranger), so how could her solo series be successful? Her fan base is too small, most readers do not even know her! Anyway, it will have the same creative team of Justice League Dark, which is a quite popular series, so maybe there will be enough people giving it a try.

    • I think DC sees this as merely a short series to build-up the upcoming Trinity War event. If sales are great then it will live on, but it’s main purpose is to build-up to the event and anything past that is just a bonus for them. I’m awaiting the third person of the Trinity to get his series as well: The Question. Can’t really leave him out can you? At least he has more of a following as well. I’ll try the first issue (maybe) but that’s as far as I’m willing ot commit to. How about you? Will you take the plunge?
