Comic Book Rankings: 02/14/13-02/20/13

Rankings

Welcome all to my weekly ranking system! I’ve broken the comics into three groups (DC, Marvel, & Independent). Only comics that I purchase are included in the rankings. I’ll provide an explanation for each comic’s ranking (updates in blue) and highlight the movers and shakers on the list in green (moved up) and red (moved down). Below you’ll find the different company’s logos. Click on that specific logo to be instantly taken directly to their specific Ranking page or just continue onto the next page. This week marks the re-debut of Ghostbusters on the Rankings along with Uncanny X-Men and Secret Avengers.

  1. Some days ago I read that Damian had been killed. Of course I wanted to talk about it with you the second I discovered it, but then I thought “Gotham Rogue gets his comics on Saturday: if I told him about Damian’s death now, I would spoil his read of Batman Inc # 8.” So I waited: now it’s Sunday afternoon here in Italy, so I suppose you’ve already read Batman Inc # 8. What do you think about it?

    • Damian died? Thanks for spoiling that gem, wwayne…just kidding. 🙂 In fact I tried to avoid all the comic sites and then came Tuesday. I was meandering through an entertainment site concering television and movies and POW right on the side in big letters “Robin is killed in lastest issue of Batman” Gah! I had that nagging feeling but to put such a blatent spoiler on a site that never covers comics before the issue even came out was awful.

As for the issue itself: I loved seeing him and Dick team-up again as I feel their pairing as Batman and Robin was the best. Damian went out a hero in a particulary brutal and heartbreaking scene. 😦 Such a great character that had so many more stories to tell. My only solace is that after it happened Talia was trying to hold back the tears…maybe a dip in a secret Lazarus Pit and he’ll be right as rain? I can only hope…

      • Well, she and her father used it for Jason Todd, so why shouldn’t they make the same thing for Damian? Don’t worry, he’ll be back at lightning speed…
