Comic Book Rankings: 02/28/13-03/06/13

Rankings

Welcome all to my weekly ranking system! I’ve broken the comics into three groups (DC, Marvel, & Independent). Only comics that I purchase are included in the rankings. I’ll provide an explanation for each comic’s ranking (updates in blue) and highlight the movers and shakers on the list in green (moved up) and red (moved down). Below you’ll find the different company’s logos. Click on that specific logo to be instantly taken directly to their specific Ranking page or just continue onto the next page. This week marks the debut of Guardians of the Galaxy, The Rocketeer: Hollywood Horror, and Five Weapons on the Rankings.

Honestly, I didn’t shed a tear for these 4 titles. I predicted Dial H’s closure a long time ago (https://thegothamrogue.wordpress.com/2013/02/16/trending-in-the-world-of-comics-020813-021413/#comments), and the other 3 dismissals were quite predictable too, because they never made huge numbers.
The only things that bothers me about these closures is that, with Threshold ending, Blue Beetle is officially fallen into oblivion. Exactly like Grifter.
Now we can hypothesize which titles will take the place of these 4 closed series. At present the only hypothesis I can make is, another Young Justice title. The reason is simple: at present that line consists of only ONE title, Teen Titans. (A Red Robin solo series? Let’s hope so!)
What about you? What do you predict?

No tears shed on my part either. Didn’t read Legion, Dial H, or Demon Knights and I’m stopping Threshold with #5 due to the Larfleeze back-up ending.

“Blue Beetle is officially fallen into oblivion.”
He was rarely seen in Threshold after his brief two-issue guest spot. Hopefully now he’ll make it back to Earth and join the Teen Titans. One can hope…

Why do they even bother. They introduced the Movement and the Green Team: Teen Trillionaires and didn’t even bother putting them in this category. Why? The Movement star younger characters and the Green Team are…TEENS. It’s in the title even!

      “What do you predict?”
After August there are only 45 main titles present. My choices: Shazam (I must sound like a broken record), Doom Patrol (to fill that wacky vibe that is missing now that Dial H is over), Plastic Man (Gail Simone and Van Sciver), the Question (to complete the Trinity of Sin), Metal Men (Platinum debuted in Justice League recently), the Outsiders (Lemire’s eventual new line-up), and my seventh…one title from Villain’s Month will become an ongoing.
