On The Radar: Comic Book Coming Attractions 03/20/13

Radar

In this feature I’ll highlight the upcoming comics that I’m looking forward to the most, the ones that are On My Radar:

Action Comics #18

Creative Team
Grant Morrison and Rags Morales
Solicitation
“You don’t dare miss Grant Morrison’s stunning, extra-sized final issue of ACTION COMICS! It’s no small battle as Superman fights to save all of creation in this epic! This issue is destined to be a milestone in The New 52! Plus: In the backup story, whatever happened to the men of tomorrow(s)?”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
This is it. What started 18 Issues ago is coming to a close and knowing Morrison it’s going to end with a bang! Wrapping up all the various plots and revealing how Superman can beat a seemingly unbeatable foe across space and time is something I am beyond excited for.

Constantine #1
Constantine #1
Creative Team
Jeff Lemire, Ray Fawkes, and Renato Guedes
Solicitation
“The star of JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK is unleashed in his all-new ongoing series! Liar, cheater, manipulator . . . John Constantine is all of these, and yet he uses these skills and more to protect the world from the darkest corners of the DC Universe. What Constantine learns in this first issue will shake the very foundations of the New 52. . . and only he knows how to deal with it!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
If you told me five years ago that I’d be anticipating a solo series starring John Constantine, I would have said…”Who is John Constantine?” With the advent of Justice League Dark, Constantine has become my favourite character of that series which is saying a lot since it features two of my favourite characters in Deadman and Zatanna. Now I get to enjoy him twice a month!

Daredevil #24
Daredevil #24
Creative Team
Mark Waid and Chris Samnee
Solicitation

“Fateful news about someone close to Daredevil! Will Matt be forced to abandon his Daredevil identity?”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
After last issue’s emotional ending, the true question is where do we go next? Will Murdock actually give up being Daredevil to help his friend? If yes, I wouldn’t blame him. Either way we are guaranteed a heart wrenching issue for sure.

New Avengers #4
New Avengers #4
Creative Team
Jonathan Hickman and Steve Epting
Solicitation
“WORLD EATER. The Illuminati have learned that Earth is the center point for the death of the Universe. If this is true, doesn’t that mean destroying it might save everything else? Enter the world eater, Galactus.”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
You had me at Galactus…

Nightwing #18
Nightwing #18
Creative Team

Kyle Higgins and Roger Bonet Martinez
Solicitation
“Dick Grayson lost so much during ‘DEATH OF THE FAMILY’ that some new events are going to push him right over the edge! Nightwing has almost no hope left until the chance for vengeance presents itself. What decisions will he make?”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
If the events of “Death of the Family” didn’t completely break Grayson emotionally then the aftermath of Batman Incorporated #8 surely did. Considering his history with Damian, can you really blame him? This issue is shaping up to be the sleeper hit of the week as we deal with the aftermath and delve into the mind of Nightwing.

  1. TMNT: SECRET HISTORY OF THE FOOT CLAN has been a-MAzing! Where did Mateus Santolouco come from? His art is amazing, and his writing is just as fantastic. Beyond that, I’m really looking forward to the return of INVINCIBLE after a month break, because issue 100 was unbelievably killer. CAPTAIN AMERICA, NEW AVENGERS, WONDER WOMAN and B.P.R.D. are probably the others I’m most looking forward to. But there’s a lot of killer books next week…;ugh, no matter what day it is, Wednesday seems too far off!

    • I really hope Mateus Santolouco is the next artist on the ongoing TMNT. His art is superb!

Invincible and B.P.R.D. I get as trades along with Chew and Hellboy (Library Editions) since I came same late into their runs. They are phenomenal!

I pick up my comics on Saturday so I still have this week’s books to tide me over but you’re right some weeks the wait is long…

      Thanks for commenting.

      • That’s awesome news! I actually only started reading INVINCIBLE last year, but I became so obsessed I had to start following the singles XD INVINCIBLE UNIVERSE is coming up this month and that’s a must read, also!

        • I know the feeling. I devoured the first five trades one right after another. Love it. Maybe one day we can get an animated series? One for grown-ups of course considering the content.
