My Favourite Covers
Okay, so our journey through the past is complete for this week but which covers reign supreme? For Detective Comics, the crown goes to: Detective Comics #244. What can I say? I really got a kick out of this cover featuring “the 100 Batarangs of Batman.” They ranged from cool looking (Magnet Batarang, Bomb Batarang) to weird-looking (Flash Bulb Batarang, Seeing Eye Batarang) to absolutely ridiculous (Police Whistle Batarang). But wait there’s more! The look of shock on Robin’s face, the determined gaze of the Dark Knight, and the revelation that Batman is in fact going to use the Batarang that is “the most dangerous one” in their collection…Batarang X. I love how they tease us by giving us a peek under the sheet but what I really wonder is what does Batarang X really do? An intriguing mystery fit for a series with detective in the title. For Amazing Spider-Man, the title goes to: Amazing Spider-Man #219. This is one awesome cover that really grabs your attention. “Peter Parker–Criminal!” What is going on? On the cover stands Peter who is not only dejected but ragged and almost looking psychotic as well. He stands gripping the bars of his cell, his clothes having seen better days as evident by his shirt being torn and frayed. I love how behind him is situated the looming image of his heroic alter ego, Spider-Man, who is screaming out in rage. Did his life as Spider-Man get Peter into trouble or was it something Mr. Parker did in his civilian guise to find his way behind bars? It would be absolutely criminal not to find out for yourself!
So that’s it for this week. Agree/Disagree? Which covers are your personal favourites from this week? Comment below!
