On The Radar: Comic Book Coming Attractions 03/27/13

Radar

In this feature I’ll highlight the upcoming comics that I’m looking forward to the most, the ones that are On My Radar:

Batman Incorporated #9
Batman Incorporated #9

Grant Morrison and Chris Burnham

“The fallout from last month’s shocking turn of events has Batman on the run! Is The Dark Knight a murderer?”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
This issue looks to deal with the aftermath of Batman’s tragic loss last issue. While I was extremely saddened at Morrison killing one of my favourite characters off, I’m intrigued at how he will end his epic run and am looking forward to how he handles this great loss in Batman’s life especially after Batman & Robin #18 did it so perfectly. If anyone has the capabilities of topping that, it’s Morrison.

FF #5
FF #5
Creative Team
Matt Fraction and Mike Allred
Solicitation
“The mystery that is… Medusa!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Last Issue, Medusa threw me for a loop and I’m happy to see that this curveball will be addressed somewhat in this issue. Is she going back to her villainous ways? Does FF stand for Frightful Four in this instance? Quality storytelling combined with stellar art makes for one awesome series!

Five Weapons #2
Five Weapons #2 (of 5)
Creative Team
Jimmie Robinson
Solicitation

“Tyler barely escapes the knife club only to become the target of both the stick club and every teacher in the school of Five Weapons. This time the faculty plans to beat Tyler at his own game and embarrass him in front of the whole school. The latest series from fan-favorite creator, Jimmie Robinson!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
The first issue caught me off-guard at how great it was. It grabbed my attention right away and set up a very interesting premise coupled with some colourful characters. I expect the second issue to be just as brilliant. And to think I almost passed this series by…

Guardians of the Galaxy #1
Guardians of the Galaxy #1
Creative Team
Brian Michael Bendis and Steve McNiven
Solicitation
“There’s a new rule in the galaxy: No one touches Earth! No one!! Why has Earth become the most important planet in the Galaxy? That’s what the Guardians of the Galaxy are going to find out!! Join the brightest stars in the Marvel universe: Star Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon, Groot and–wait for it–Iron-Man, as they embark upon one of the most explosive and eye-opening chapters of Marvel NOW! These galactic Avengers are going to discover secrets that will rattle Marvel readers for years to come! Why wait for the movie? It all starts here!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Last issue’s oddly numbered 0.1 was just the tease and now it’s time for the proper series start. If that tease was any indication, I’m in for one hell of a ride. I look forward to learning more about these various characters I’m not too familiar with (besides Iron Man of course) and am praying that this cosmic tale continues to engage and hold my attention. The answer to that prayer starts here!

Mark Waid’s Green Hornet #1
Mark Waid Green Hornet #1
Creative Team

Mark Waid and Daniel Indro
Solicitation
“The Hornet faces his most dangerous enemy ever–an egotistical, arrogant Britt Reid! In his alter-ego as a powerful newspaper publisher, the Hornet has lost control, becoming a social crusader far too sure of himself and of his judgment. But when he finally goes too far, an innocent man pays a terrible price–and the legend of the Green Hornet begins its cataclysmic collapse!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Mark Waid wowed me with Daredevil. Mark Waid impressed me with Hulk. Now Mark Waid looks to revitalize Green Hornet. I look forward to the results! In Waid I trust!

  1. It will be great to see how Grant Morrison will round up his run on Batman Incorporated, sure it will be an amazing issue. The Green Hornet looks worth a look as well, so might get that, also looking forward to Guradians of the Galaxy as well. Have a great weekend & happy comic reading :O)

It will probably be both mind-blowing and mind-bending as is anything that Morrison does! Hope your weekend was awesome!

    • East of West looks intriguing and I’d love to hear what you think about it when it comes out. I’m on the fence but a good review here or there could sway me as will the ability to leaf through it at my LCS.
