The Edge: Week 16 – What Is…The Time Capsule?

theEdge

Last Week on The Edge I discussed the addition of a new feature for this Blog. I proudly reveal to you Tuesday’s new resident…The Time Capsule! What is The Time Capsule, you ask? Merriam-Webster defines it as: a container holding historical records or objects representative of current culture that is deposited (as in a cornerstone) for preservation until discovery by some future age. In this instance, it will act as a metaphorical digital time capsule that we’ll crack open each week to discover the next part of a major comic character’s history. Each entry will feature all the core titles that this chosen character was involved in for a given month, starting with his/her first appearance and ending when his/her story is complete. So, what character are we going to be embarking on this lengthy quest with? Your initial reaction is probably Batman considering my obvious affinity for him and everyone in his universe but you would be wrong. The individual I will be focusing on is in fact the character that got me reading comics, the individual that created my thirst for this medium. If it wasn’t for him, this blog would probably never have been created. The character? None other than…Spider-Man. Look for the first edition of The Time Capsule tomorrow. I hope you enjoy it!

    • They have not invented a word to describe how sad I was to hear this news. Waid was the writer that made me care for Daredevil, something I’ll always be thankful for.

The one thing I don’t understand is the end of the CBM article: “In an interview published earlier this week by Newsarama, “Daredevil” writer Mark Waid said the following about the book’s long-term prospects, with the character’s 50th anniversary looming in 2014: “They’re…interesting. And quite unexpected and quite familiar at the same time. They may or may not involve a drastic shift in Matt Murdock’s career and lifestyle. But we do know this one thing for sure: the Waid/Samnee/Rodriguez/Caramagna team isn’t going anywhere, and we’re striving for new heights!””

False hope? Maybe Daredevil is getting a new #1 with Waid still in charge ala the All-New X-Factor with Peter David? I can only hope…

      • “Maybe Daredevil is getting a new #1 with Waid still in charge ala the All-New X-Factor with Peter David?” That’s what I thought too. Waid and Daredevil are a good team, and I’m sure that both Waid and Marvel don’t want it to end after such a short time.
