On The Radar: Comic Book Coming Attractions 05/22/13

Radar

In this feature I’ll highlight the upcoming comics that I’m looking forward to the most, the ones that are On My Radar:

Daredevil #26
Daredevil #26
Creative Team
Mark Waid and Chris Samnee
Solicitation
“A DOUBLE-SIZED EXTRA-vanagnza celebrating the third-year of the acclaimed series! Face to face with his opposite number–a foe Daredevil cannot beat! What is his connection to the accident that created Daredevil? PLUS: As Foggy deals with his cancer, Matt turns to one of the brightest guys in the galaxy for help. Here comes. . . Iron Man!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Last issue was simply epic featuring a fantastic fight scene between an enemy that proved Daredevil’s superior in every facet. This month we are treated to a double-sized issue of Daredevil providing double the drama, double the action, and double the awesomeness. I can’t wait to see where this story grows from here!

The Flash #20
Flash #20
Creative Team
Brian Buccellato and Francis Manapul
Solicitation
“An all-new Flash epic begins here, and the stakes have never been higher as Barry races toward a confrontation with the Reverse Flash!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Who is the Reverse-Flash? After a mere hint at the villain, the new arc kicks-off in full force looking to answer just that. Manapul returns to art duties this month which is simply fantastic news as he provides some simply mind-blowing visuals. Flash Fact: you should pick this series up!

Green Lantern #20
Green Lantern #20
Creative Team
Geoff Johns and Doug Mahnke
Solicitation

“It’s the final battle against the First Lantern and the Guardians in this, the extra-sized finale of Geoff Johns’ historic run on the title! Plus, don’t miss a special retrospective on Geoff’s run on GL!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Geoff John’s legendary run on this title ends here. Yet another issue that made it to my Top 5 this week with an increased length, an added length that is most assuredly needed to put a nice bow on everything Johns has accomplished after these countless years. It’s a bitter-sweet note as we are guaranteed a great issue but unfortunately this is it for Johns. I’ll miss his presence on this book. He was the writer that got me interested in the character of Green Lantern and for that I am thankful.

The Green Team: Teen Trillionaires #1
Green Team Teen Trillionaires #1
Creative Team
Art Baltazar and Ig Guara
Solicitation
“INVENTORS! EXPLORERS! ADVENTURERS! Do you need money to finance an important project? Then you should set up a meeting with THE GREEN TEAM! Nature of world-changing idea: Amount requested: Does your project have the potential to: Fracture space-time? Replace the combustion engine? Attract extraterrestrial attention? Prove/disprove existence of deities? Piss off The Justice League? Render the human body obsolete? If any of the above are checked, please fill out liability release form GT2013-05. Send any 82 drawings, plans, models, or photos with request.”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
New series alert! As I’ve said before, every time I open up a new series it has the potential to wow me or disappoint. It’s that mystery of which one it will be that keeps me on my toes as I’ve picked up some in the past that I thought would be excellent and turned into a disaster while others were completely off my radar and then proceed to floor me (ie. Five Weapons). This book looks to be, at least on the surface, a series that will be just plain fun. The DC Universe is in desperate need of something fun so I’m hoping that this book delivers on that aspect. If it does it will be a permanent addition to my pull-list.

Superior Spider-Man #10
Superior Spider-Man #10
Creative Team

Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos
Solicitation
“IT BEGINS HERE!! A perfect jumping on point as The Green Goblin returns. . . and Spider-Man is nowhere to be found!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
The ending of the previous issue left countless Spider-Man fans in yet another fit of rage. This is the follow-up to what is now a new status quo for this series. How can the Superior Spider-Man operate without SPOILER’S SPOILERS? That’s the new problem facing Otto and a problem I can’t wait to see how he solves. Oh, and did someone mention…Green Goblin? Yeah, this should be good.
