On The Radar: Comic Book Coming Attractions 10/16/13

Radar

In this feature I’ll highlight the upcoming comics that I’m looking forward to the most, the ones that are On My Radar:

Batman and Two-Face #24
Batman and Two Face #24
Creative Team
Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason
Solicitation
“‘The Big Burn’ part one of five! Two-Face’s first epic in The New 52 sees Batman unraveling the mysterious connections between Harvey Dent’s life and the origin of Carrie Kelley!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Tomasi’s Villains Month offering involving Two-Face was brilliant and just got me even more exited for this five-part arc coming our way. How does Dent factor into Carrie Kelley’s origins? I have absolutely no clue but I can’t wait to find out on a series that continues to impress despite losing one half of its main characters months ago.

Forever Evil: Rogues Rebellion #1
Forever Evil Rogues Rebellion #1 (of 6)
Creative Team
Brian Buccellato and Patrick Zircher
Solicitation

“The Rogues call no man boss, but a new evil threat might not leave them much choice! Will they fall in line, or refuse and risk certain death? The answer will tear the Rogues apart!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
I’m a huge, huge fan of the Rogues so being blessed with a six issue mini-series staring them is fantastic. Perhaps this will also open the door for some appearances of classic Rogues that have yet to debut in the New 52 but regardless if that does or does not happen, I’ll be along for the ride and enjoying it every step.

Hawkeye #13
Hawkeye #13
Creative Team
Matt Fraction and David Aja
Solicitation

“Fraction and Aja continue the surprise comic hit of the century! After a lifetime of decisions both good and bad, Clint and Barney Barton have to realize they are brothers and ultimately, they’re the only ones who can save one another. I mean if they don’t kill each other first. Good luck with that, Barton brothers.”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Finally! I’ve suffered from Hawkeye withdraws these last few months but this week marks the return of one of the best series that Marvel is currently producing. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder but that didn’t make the lack of issues any less painful. I’m 100% sure that this series will pick up right where it left off: wowing us with its words and amazing us with its art.

Supergirl #24
Supergirl #24
Creative Team
Michael Alan Nelson and Mahmud A. Asrar
Solicitation
“Brainiac and Cyborg Superman fight for the fate of Kara Zor-El! And when the cosmic dust settles, wait till you see the secret behind the villains and their shocking connection to Supergirl!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
What a shock ending Issue #23 was. I seriously did not see that coming at all and its been quite a while since I was that surprised. I’m on the proverbial edge of my seat as I await the resolution and hope that the follow-up continues the momentum that was squandered a little by Villains Month’s interruption…

Wonder Woman #24
Wonder Woman #24
Creative Team

Brian Azzarello and Goran Sudzuka
Solicitation
“After the shocking events of issue #23, Wonder Woman’s life has changed forever . . . but what if she refuses to walk the path the gods–and her mentor–have laid out for her? A strange new era of WONDER WOMAN begins here!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Speaking of great endings, Wonder Woman’s new status quo looks to take the character in exciting new directions. How will she cope with this new position and how can she contend with the new adversities she faces? Its like we’ve entered into Season 2 after a huge Season 1 cliffhanger.

    • “I’m also considering A+X. It’s mostly been a really good series, I keep thinking I should actually buy it.”
The two factors that kept me from buying it was it was an offshoot of Avengers VS X-Men (did not particularly enjoy that crossover, besides the art) and the dreaded $3.99 price point. Heard nothing but good things about it though. Can’t believe its lasted as long as it has. Must be selling very well indeed.
