On The Radar: Comic Book Coming Attractions 10/30/13

Radar

In this feature I’ll highlight the upcoming comics that I’m looking forward to the most, the ones that are On My Radar:

Damian: Son of Batman #1
Damian Son Of Batman #1 (of 4)
Creative Team
Andy Kubert
Solicitation
“Damian Wayne, the son of Batman, has adopted the cape and cowl as his own . . . but what horrific events set this troubled hero on the path of his dark destiny? The story of Damian Wayne begins in this epic miniseries written and drawn by one of Damian’s co-creators, Andy Kubert!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Damian returns! Ever since his death there’s been a Damian shaped hole in my heart. I simply loved the character and was truly saddened when he was killed off so early in his lifespan. This mini-series aims to deliver me my Damian fix by returning to the 666 Universe. As long as Kubert nails down the personality of Batman’s son I won’t be disappointed as we are guaranteed superb art either way.

Green Lantern Annual #2
Green Lantern Annual #2
Creative Team
Robert Venditti and Sean Chen
Solicitation

“Don’t miss the stunning conclusion of ‘Lights Out!’ Can Relic be defeated? Who lives? Who dies? The new status quo for the Lanterns is revealed here!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
An Annual that actually means something and one that will have lasting effects on the Green Lantern universe. I have no clue who they would kill so there’s that looming mystery and the guarantee of a new status quo is another big promise. Things will never be the same again…at least that is what they want us to believe. And it all starts here!

Nightwing Annual #1
Nightwing Annual #1
Creative Team
Kyle Higgins and Jason Masters
Solicitation
“Robin and Batgirl grew up fighting side by side . . . but with Dick Grayson about to embark on a new crimefighting quest and Barbara Gordon no longer fighting under the Bat, is there anything left between them? Following the ‘Batgirl: Wanted’ epic, this is the story of a twosome with nothing left to lose, fighting for the only thing they can: each other!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon together again in an issue that looks to revisit their past while taking place in the present. I love the dynamic relationship between the two and anytime they get together on the page fireworks and enjoyment is sure to follow.

Superior Spider-Man #20
Superior Spider-Man #20
Creative Team
Dan Slott and Ryan Stegman
Solicitation
“From the fallout of NECESSARY EVIL, comes new beginnings and new twists that will be felt in the pages of Spider-Man for years to come! SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #20 is where it all starts! Do NOT miss this one! It’s the first ever adventure for the Superior Spider-Man and the Black Cat. Felicia Hardy always cared for the Spider more than the man. But what happens when that man is Otto Octavius? Plus: A day Otto has been waiting for is finally here. Is the world ready for ‘Dr. Peter Parker’. . . and what he plans to do next?”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Slott has been hyping this issue for months now promising that when readers years from now wonder when “THAT” event happened they’d be referred back to this issue. What “THAT” is I couldn’t even fathom a guess and I truly wonder if this will live up to all the hype.

X-Men: Battle of the Atom #2
X-Men Battle of the Atom #2 (of 2)
Creative Team

Brian Michael Bendis and Frank Cho
Solicitation
X-MEN: BATTLE OF THE ATOM, PART 10! The biggest battle in X-Men history will melt your face off. All of the X-Men find their footing in the world much changed. The X-Men event of 2013 concludes and sets up the major X-Men stories for 2014!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
I’ve enjoyed the Battle of the Atom crossover and its hard to believe that those 10 parts just flew by. The fate of all the various groups from Wolverine’s X-Men to Cyclops’ X-Men to the past X-Men to the future X-Men to the future Brotherhood is all left in the air and this is where we’ll discover where they are headed. Who will stay in our timeline, who will go, and who will die? I expect this issue to be the cherry on top of this excellent event comic and one that sets the stage for the future.

    • I’m thinking about Sandman. I’ll probably pick it up just because JH Williams III is on art. I have to admit that I’ve never actually read any previous Sandman related work though except for Death: The High Cost of Living. Thanks for sharing your list.
