On The Radar: Comic Book Coming Attractions 01/15/14

Radar

In this feature I’ll highlight the upcoming comics that I’m looking forward to the most, the ones that are On My Radar:

Daredevil #35
Daredevil #35

Creative Team

Mark Waid and Chris Samnee
Solicitation
“Daredevil pulls his allies together to make an all-out assault on the Sons of the Serpent before they can infest the rest of the nation–but he’s about to find out just how blind justice can be! PLUS…You’ve demanded it! An appearance by Elektra that sets the stage for a huge change in Matt’s life!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Everything that Waid has been building towards involving the insidious Sons of the Serpent organization comes to a head with this issue. But that line about how Murdock is going to “find out just how blind justice can be” leaves me on the edge of my seat. Add a special appearance by Elektra (finally) and further exploration into Foggy Nelson’s future and you get why this series is consistently near the top of my pile.

Forever Evil: Rogues Rebellion #4
Forever Evil Rogues Rebellion #4 (of 6)
Creative Team
Brian Buccellato and Scott Hepburn
Solicitation

“The Rogues just can’t catch a break! On the run from the Crime Syndicate and the Secret Society, the Rogues are forced into a showdown with an army of escapees from Arkham Asylum!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
The two greatest groups of comic book villains in the same book? The denizens of Arkham VS the Rogues? What more could I possibly ask for?

Justice League 3000 #2
Justice League 3000 #2
Creative Team
Keith Giffen and Howard Porter
Solicitation
“Before the team can figure out what happened to their memories, Cadmus sends some seemingly familiar faces into the darkness of Commonwealth space to face off against the first member of a new group of villains called LOCUS!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
The debut issue of this series surprised me by how good it was. I came in expecting a disappointment and what I got was one of my Top 5 comics for the week that it came out. Seeing just how different this Justice League of the year 3000 is and exploring more of this future world is quite an enticing prospect. Hopefully this follow-up issue lives up to the high standards that the first issue set.

Superior Spider-Man #25
Superior Spider-Man #25
Creative Team
Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos
Solicitation
“Special super-sized 25th issue! Otto Octavius, the Superior Spider-Man, in a life-or-death struggle against the original Superior Venom! Plus: With one last goblin on his side, the Goblin King’s court is now complete! Guest starring: The Avengers!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
An extra-large issue, Spider-Man VS Venom, a new recruit to Green Goblin’s cause, and an appearance by the Avengers. This issue looks to have it all and more. You are always guaranteed at least one twist and some terrific character moments, a fact that makes me that much sadder that the Superior Age is coming to a close soon.

Superman/Wonder Woman #4
Superman Wonder Woman #4 Combo Pack
Creative Team
Charles Soule and Tony S. Daniel
Solicitation
“The secret of Superman and Wonder Woman’s relationship is out and the world’s reaction is mixed, but that’s the least of the power couple’s worries as Zod seeks to release Faora from the Phantom Zone! This issue is also offered as a combo pack edition with a redemption code for a digital download of this issue.”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Their secret is out and watching how the world reacts should provide memorable moment after memorable moment. What truly has my interest though is the continued exploits of Zod and if he will succeed in his goal to free Faora. If I was a betting man I’d say his chances are pretty good and I look forward to the eventual Superman/Wonder Woman VS Zod/Faora showdown.
