In Retroactive I’ll take you on a visual comic cover tour of the past covering all the covers for a particular series. Each entry will cover an entire year and I’ll always have one comic from DC and one comic from Marvel. At the end of each edition of Retroactive I’ll select my overall favourite cover for that year for each series. Last time on Retroactive we covered The Flash 1967 and Uncanny X-Men 1975. The Speech Bubble 
The image from Flash # 183 could be set in a noir movie: neon lights, nightclubs, a lonely man walking on a desert sidewalk, another man wearing the typical gangster outfit (a hat and a trench coat)… if I had seen it in a comic shop, I definitely would have taken this issue out of the spinner rack.
When I gave it a second look, I realized that Flash # 183 shows the fake death cliché: you know that I usually don’t give the gold medal to an issue having such a pathetic gimmick, but in this case I decided to make an exception to the rule.
Speaking of the fake death cliché, when I read that the real Spidey is about to resurrect, I didn’t turn a hair. It was a so expected event that its announcement didn’t strike me at all. Of course I’m happy for it, but certainly not surprised.
Silver medal for issue # 180, because I love its light effects and the meticulously drawn outfit of the villain; bronze medal for issue # 179, because it breaks the 4th wall.
As for the X – Men, I pick UXM # 98, because it shows a very heated and dynamic fight scene from an unusual perspective.
Special mention for UXM # 97, because I love the way black and blue are combined on Cyclop’s costume.
P.S.: January already became the month during which I got most followers ever: I gained 33 of them in 15 days. Maybe another blogger advertised my blog somewhere.
Also, last week I saw the wonderful movie named American Hustle. I do suggest you to watch it too if you haven’t: you’ll thank me. : )

From the moment I saw this cover I knew you’d give it the first place crown. A simply awesome cover that gets my runner-up award.

Quite right. I knew he’d come back in time for Amazing Spider-Man 2. I’m really going to miss the Superior Spider-Man though. I wonder what Doc Ock’s fate will be? Now that is truly a puzzle.

This was my third place cover. For me, my runner-up is the cover that Paul Bowler selected (#101). Another classic moment in X-Men lore!

“Wow. Congrats!” My blog is getting a bigger audience, but it’s not all a bed of roses. A bad mannered new reader commented my latest post and heaped abuse on me just because he thought I didn’t properly summarize the plot of American Hustle.
I approved his comment, I replied to him in a polite way and I even thanked him for sharing his thoughts, and he went on heaping abuse on me by writing a second nasty comment.
I found out that unfortunately I can’t block him: all I can do is deleting his comments if he shows up again. I told him not to do it, but probably he shrugged his shoulders when he read my request.

I’m sorry to hear this. Fortunately I haven’t run into someone like that on my blog…so far that is. It’s too bad you can’t block certain people though. Maybe in a future update of WordPress?

Some brilliant coves to choose from this week. I really like Flash #184 as well, with the black background and the giant caption, its really eye catching. Uncanny X-Men #101 is my choice here, with the first appearance of Phoenix on the cover, a classic X-Men moment! Brilliant!
Ah yes! #101 is simply brilliant and my personal runner-up. I love the shots of the various X-Men, panicked as the water looks to swallow them up. But then rising out of the water is…the Phoenix! Superb…or should I say x-ceptional? 🙂
