In #Trending I’ll highlight and offer my opinions on any comic-related news that occurred during the week. This will include news about comic-related movies, TV shows, video games, etc. while also highlighting various Comic Book Cosplay. Let’s begin:

Batman Vs. Superman: Delayed!!!super_and_batman_by_corankizerstone-d6pojzfYes, that headline is correct as the movie has been delayed by 10 months with it now coming out May 6, 2016. That date also happens to be the same day as an untitled Marvel movie. Which company will blink first? Regardless, this caused a cavalcade of rumors ranging from Ben Affleck being injured causing the delay to Affleck threatening to quit due to WB’s disorganization. These rumors appear to be just that though.

Coinciding with delay was the fact that WB fired some members from the art department. One disgruntled former employee felt the need to leak some SPOILERS. Whether these SPOILERS are from the current script or an older one are unknown. Highlight the following to reveal said SPOILERS:
The villains are Lex Luthor and Metallo.
Batman forms a UN type deal to stop Superman from destroying another city.
Aquaman is in it, but not called Aquaman. He’s there because the world engine in the ocean did something to the fish.
Wonder Woman poses as a Wayne Enterprises investor to retrieve an item that belongs to her people.
Lex Luthor is in the shadows a lot, a manipulator. Not much face time with Superman.
Robin betrayed Batman at some point, leading to a falling out between them.
The Batcave was super cool looking, and the mobile looked similar to Burton’s.
Lois is investigating Lex.
Metallo “kills” Clark.
The Daily Planet is bought by Lex Luthor for PR purposes.
At the end Superman is living in exile, and the Justice League is a government approved superhero team.

END OF SPOILERS. The one thing I don’t understand: how can Marvel release two movies a year yet DC can only manage one every two to three years?

Marvel TV NewsshieldFirst up is all the news regarding Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.:
1. Jaimie Alexander is going to guest star as her Thor character, Lady Sif. Look for her during episode 15 as she travels back to Midgard to hunt down the villainous Thor character known as Lorelei who in the comics was the younger sister of the Enchantress and will be played by Elena Satine. If only Ms. Alexander would get more screen time in the movies…
2. ABC President Paul Lee revealed that “the identity of The Clairvoyant would be revealed soon, and it’s going to be very, very cool.”
3. Mike Peterson was confirmed to fully become the Marvel character know as Deathlok in the very next episode of the show. Executive Producer Jeffrey Bell revealed: “We have been waiting all season for this moment where we can reveal that Mike Peterson’s story arc is an origin story. We’re thrilled to have J. August Richards playing Deathlok and to have our audience enjoy this favorite Marvel character on the show.” Executive Producer Jeph Loeb added: “The plan to turn Mike into Deathlok had been there from the beginning, when he was first introduced. 2014 also marks the 40th anniversary of Deathlok’s introduction in Marvel Comics.” Awesome news and I’m very happy that we’re finally getting some actual Marvel characters!

Next up is Agent Peggy Carter:
1. The show hired a couple of showrunners in the forms of Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas.
2. ABC President Paul Lee stated: “It certainly has a good chance to be on the network.”
3. A Marvel TV show is getting ready to start filming in Vancouver, British Columbia. Codenamed That Old Chestnut, there is a mighty strong possibility that this may in fact be a pilot for Agent Peggy Carter.

Movie News
Movies_logo (#1) Stan Lee was asked if he would be having a cameo in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. His answer: “No, I’m afraid not. That’s the one group I didn’t create. I didn’t write Guardians of the Galaxy. I’m not even sure who they all are. I can’t wait to see the movie.”

(#2) Gal Gadot confirmed that her contract as Wonder Woman consists of three films and that for Batman Vs. Superman she will be paid the paltry sum of $300,000. She’ll be shooting her scenes in May and if the fans accept her in this movie and Justice League I think it is all but guaranteed that the third movie could potentially be a solo film.

(#3) It’s time for some Fantastic Four casting rumors! Michael B. Jordan is virtually a lock to play the role of Johnny Storm and looks to be the individual that the other potential actors are being involved with to compare chemistry. Up for the role of Reed Richards is Miles Teller, Kit Harington, and Richard Madden. Sue Storm hopefuls include Kate Mara, Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie. No news on the Thing though making me think the character may be all-CGI with a voice actor to be cast at a later date.

(#4) Marvel’s Ant-Man movie has moved up a few weeks to take over the slot left by Batman Vs. Superman. Instead of coming out July 31st it will now come out July 17th, 2015. Not being released so close to the World’s Finest anymore is nothing but good news for this untested property.

(#5) Samuel L. Jackson’s nine-picture contract with Marvel Studios is coming to an end. After Avengers: Age of Ultron he will only have two appearances left though he has gone on record saying he’d love to do more if a new contract was offered. I’m fairly certain that Marvel will take him up on that.

Television Newstvlogo (#1) Rumors are swirling that actor Donal Logue has been offered the role of Harvey Bullock in FOX’s Gotham TV series. If this is true is anyone’s guess but at least we know the character will be featured.

(#2) Actor Jesse L. Martin will play the part of Detective West on CW’s upcoming Flash television series. The character is described as: “Late 40s to Early 50s – African American -Detective West is an honest, blue-collar cop who’s seen it all. A soulful, funny caring father to Iris, and a surrogate father to Barry, West came up through the foster system himself. He took in Barry after his mother’s murder and his father’s imprisonment. He believes in Barry and supports Barry’s efforts to prove his father’s innocence.” We also got a description of his daughter Iris: “22-28 – African-American – As smart as she is beautiful, Iris is in grad school studying psychology. She’s also Barry’s mile a minute, fast-talking, quick-witted best friend. Her father, Detective West, took in Barry when his mother was murdered, and his father was wrongly accused and imprisoned for her murder. In a tough childhood for Barry, she was the one ‘not tough’ thing. She’s unaware of Barry’s strong feelings for her.” There’s a whole lot of liberties they are taking with these characters and from the sound of it they are almost unrecognizable from their comic book counterparts. I’m taking a very cautious wait-and-see approach…

(#3) More Flash casting news as two more actors have signed on for the pilot and potentially more. First up is Rick Cosnett who will play Detective Eddie Thawne: “a recent transfer to the Central City Police Department, whose past is a mystery and who harbors a dark secret.” As any Flash fan worth their weight would know, Thawne is the last name of Flash’s number one foe Eobard Thawne aka the Reverse-Flash. The second hiring was actress Danielle Panabaker who will play Caitlin Snow: “a highly intelligent bioengineering expert who lost her fiancé during an explosion at S.T.A.R. Labs.” In the comics, Ms. Snow eventually becomes DC villainess Killer Frost. Nice casting though I personally can’t wait to see who they get to play Captain Cold.

(#4) Continuing with the Flash TV show, David Nutter has won the coveted job of directing the pilot episode. He was a big fan of comics growing up: “My father died when I was a year-and-a-half old and my mother raised me as a single parent. I lived in West Virginia and the one thing I used to do as a child was buy comic books. I would cut out the characters, and their angles, and how they looked and so forth, and create my own characters for these stories. I’d have Captain America, or Iron Man, or The Flash, or Superman, and I’d create my own stories.”
