On The Radar: Comic Book Coming Attractions 03/19/14

Radar

In this feature I’ll highlight the upcoming comics that I’m looking forward to the most, the ones that are On My Radar:

Animal Man #29
Animal Man #29

Creative Team

Jeff Lemire and Travel Foreman
Solicitation
“FINAL ISSUE A special finale to Jeff Lemire’s run on the series by the creative team that launched Animal Man in The New 52! What is left of Buddy in the wake of ‘Evolve or Die’?”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Before Jeff Lemire I had never read an issue of Animal Man. Thanks to him I’ve fallen in love with the character and his family but as we know all good things must come to an end. Not only is Lemire going to be joined by this title’s original artist but he’ll also be drawing some of the issue himself. This emotional journey will be coming to a close but at least Animal Man will be turning up in Lemire’s Justice League United.

“BECAUSE YOU DEMANDED IT! Join Marvel’s fearless hero as he begins his most awe-inspiring adventure yet in the sunny city of San Francisco! Gifted with an imperceptible radar sense and a passion for justice, blind lawyer Matt Murdock–a.k.a. DAREDEVIL–protects the Golden City’s streets from all manner of evil. But big changes are in store for Matt Murdock as old haunts and familiar faces rise to give the devil his due. Hold on tight, because here comes Daredevil…the Man Without Fear!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
It is back! Waid and Samnee launch the new volume of Daredevil. Same great creative team, whole new city. Where will they take us next? I can’t wait to find out!

Ms. Marvel #2

Creative Team
G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona
Solicitation
“As seen in the New York Times, CNN and other media outlets the world-over, the all-new Ms. Marvel has made her thunderous debut!Kamala Khan’s very ordinary life has suddenly become extraordinary. Is she ready to wield these strange and immense new gifts? Or will the weight of the legacy before her be too much to handle?Critically acclaimed writer G. Willow Wilson (Air, Cairo) and fan-beloved artist Adrian Alphona (Runaways, Uncanny X-Force) bring you the groundbreaking Marvel series that has set the world abuzz. Don’t miss history in the making.”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
The debut issue of this series caught me completely off guard…by how excellent it was. It takes quite a talented writer to make us connect and care for a new character so quickly but Wilson has done just that. I cross my fingers that the highly enjoyable first issue is just the start of things to come.

Superior Foes of Spider-Man #10

Nick  Spencer and Steve  Lieber
Solicitation
“The Crime of the Century, Part 4. Ever wonder what Shocker does on his day off? The answer is, “Get punched. Repeatedly.”Thanos shows up. Well, no, he doesn’t. Not at all. Wouldn’t that be awesome, though? And then have the Foes eat Shawarma? Spencer. Lieber. Rosenberg. The sleeper hit of the year. Again.”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Read that solicitation. Read it. Tell me that isn’t awesome. That is just the tip of the awesome iceberg that is this series.

Wonder Woman #29
Wonder Woman #29
Creative Team
Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang
Solicitation
“If the helmet fits…then it’s time to play God!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
I will weep once Azzarello’s run comes to a conclusion but I’ll enjoy it while I can. This book keeps getting better and better as we march to the grand finale. Everything is coming to a head as the amazing rematch between our heroine and the First Born is looming. My number 2 DC title is nothing short of wondrous! I’m ready to partake in the next legendary chapter.

  1. Ms. Marvel, of course. Other than that, Iron Man, My Little Pony, Revolutionary War, UXM and X-Men.

And I’m very upset that Pretty Deadly isn’t coming out this week. It’s been pushed back another two weeks. Argh.

I feel your pain. I felt similar angst when Hawkeye kept getting delayed over and over again.

      Thanks for sharing your list.
