On The Radar: Comic Book Coming Attractions 04/30/14

Radar

It is time once again to highlight the upcoming comics that I’m looking forward to the most, the ones that are On My Radar:

All-New X-Men #26
All New X-Men #26

Creative Team

Brian Michael Bendis and Stuart Immonen
Solicitation
“THE BROTHERHOOD OF THE FUTURE IS BACK! And it doesn’t mean good things for the X-Men of the past!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
The future of evil collides with our time displaced heroes in an issue that should be excellent. With Bendis and Immonen, how can we go wrong?

Amazing Spider-Man #1
Amazing Spider-Man #1
Creative Team
Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos
Solicitation

“The Greatest Super Hero of All Time RETURNS! The world may have changed since Spidey’s been gone, but so has Peter Parker. This is a man with a second chance at life, and he’s not wasting a moment of it. Same Parker Luck, new Parker attitude. Putting the “friendly” back in the neighborhood, the “hero” back into “super hero,” and the “amazing” back into “Spider-Man!” Also returning: The recharged and reenergized ELECTRO!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
The era of the Superior Spider-Man is over, long live the return of the Amazing Spider-Man. Peter Parker is back and ready to pick up the pieces of his life after Otto wreaked havoc on his personal life. That prospect is enticing enough but add one of my favourite Spider-Man villains in the form of Electro and a startling revelation about the day the spider bit Peter all those years ago and you get one hell of an opening salvo.

Atomic Robo: The Knights of the Golden Circle #1
Atomic Robo Knights of the Golden Circle #1 (of 5)
Creative Team
Brian Clevinger and Scott Wegener
Solicitation
“There was an explosion, some crystals, a lot of lava, and several nuclear warheads. Plus, a crazy time-traveling dinosaur. Now it’s 1884 and Atomic Robo is up against the notorious ‘Butcher Boys.’ The fate of the West is at stake, but can Atomic Robo save the day before his nuclear fuel runs dry?”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Atomic Robo is back! What does that mean? Awesomeness is bound to ensue! A robot out of time, stuck in the Old West, trying to find a way to get back to his proper time? Humor and action? What more could you possibly want?

The Flash Annual #3
Flash Annual #3
Creative Team
Robert Venditti and Brett Booth
Solicitation
“The start of a major new arc for the Fastest Man Alive! In the future, The Flash is a broken man. His powers have failed him time and again at great cost to him and the city he has sworn to protect. Now he’s coming back to 2014 to stop the one event that destroyed his life. Meanwhile, in the present, Barry Allen must contend with thieves trying to capitalize on the devastation of FOREVER EVIL. It’s a tale of two timelines that ushers in one of DC’s most storied characters – featuring The New 52 debut of WALLY WEST!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Let’s see… Time travel? Check. A Future Flash meeting the Present Day one? Check. Barry dealing with the aftermath of Forever Evil? Check. The man who will always be “my” Flash, Wally West, gracing this issue’s very pages? CHECK. Yeah, that’s right. This issue has it all.

Ghostbusters #15
Ghostbusters #15
Creative Team
Erik Burnham and Dan Schoening
Solicitation
“Louis Tully was an average accountant until the day that Vinz Clortho-Keymaster of Gozer the Traveler-possessed him in service of the end the world. Now the news says New York is at the center of Sumerian shenanigans again, and Louis should want nothing more than to steer clear… but something is drawing him back. Is it morbid curiosity or something more sinister? ‘Mass Hysteria,’ the 30th Anniversary celebration, continues here!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
First we had the debut of Dana Barrett into the Ghostbusters comic universe and now we follow that up with that other most requested inclusion: Louis Tully. This Mass Hysteria arc celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the franchise isn’t pulling any punches at all and that is exactly how I like it.

  1. I got back into comics with #ASM 700 and loved Superior. I figure I’ll check out the first few issues of Slott’s new Spider-Man at least. I’m more interested in the Black Cat story than Electro though, or any revisions to Peter’s origin to create movie tie-ins.

I’ve been waiting for Wally West for 6 months, so that might get me back into Flash, we’ll see.

I’ll give Silver Surfer another try too.

They are most definitely not creating a movie tie-in for his origin. All I’ll say is what if the spider lived just a little bit longer than originally thought?

Hopefully they don’t blow his return. My fingers are crossed.

Thanks for sharing your pull-list! 🙂

  2. All-New X-Men, Avengers AI, My Little Pony, Silver Surfer, and I think I’ll grab X-Force. And even though I picked up all the single issues, I’m giving very serious consideration to grabbing the Pretty Deadly TPB. And I’d encourage everyone else to grab it, too, if you didn’t read the single issues, because holy crap, it’s an amazing, beautiful story. A masterpiece, which is not a term I use lightly.

    • I don’t think I’ve ever bought a TPB of any series where I already owned the individual issues. It’s a testament to your love for that series that you’re thinking of doing just that! Thanks for sharing your pull-list as well. Much appreciated. 🙂
