On The Radar: Comic Book Coming Attractions 05/07/14

Radar

It is time once again to highlight the upcoming comics that I’m looking forward to the most, the ones that are On My Radar:

Batman Eternal #5

“As the Dark Knight’s weekly series continues, Red Robin takes center stage in a major Gotham City mystery that has Harper and Cullen Row caught in the crosshairs!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
I’m a sucker for a good mystery and one where Red Robin takes point is just a bonus. By including Harper Row and her brother though, it takes this issue to another level.

Green Arrow #31
Green Arrow #31

Creative Team
Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino
Solicitation

“‘The Outsiders War’ finale, featuring the return of Count Vertigo! As the final shot in this war is fired from his bow – what is left of Green Arrow?”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Green Arrow has the perfect formula: mix a griping story with superb art and leave us at the end of every issue with gigantic cliffhanger after gigantic cliffhanger. The previous issue was no exception with a potential death of a long thought dead character. Was the revelation of his return short-lived or will he pull through in the end? The epic finale has arrived and that is just one of the many dangling plotlines that look to be resolved.

Moon Knight #3
Moon Knight #3

Warren Ellis and Declan Shalvey

“In this issue: Moon Knight punches ghosts.”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Moon Knight punches ghosts. I really needn’t say more.

The New 52: Futures End #1
New 52 Futures End #1
Creative Team
Keith Giffen and Patrick Zircher
Solicitation
“Five years from now, the DC Universe is reeling from a war with another Earth, leaving the world unprepared for an approaching evil that threatens to destroy the future. Can a time-traveling Batman Beyond help a massive cast of the DCU’s finest avert the impending apocalypse? Find out in this new weekly series that will forever alter the direction of The New 52! In this debut issue of The New 52’s weekly series, Batman Beyond arrives five years later! Grifter turns against humanity! And a Justice League member DIES!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
It’s time for the start of DC’s next weekly series and it looks like they are pulling no punches. Batman Beyond traveling to the DCU proper? Check. Grifter turning his back on humanity? Check. The death of a Justice League member? Check. Like Batman Eternal they have to grip us right away or run the risk of people shunning this weekly event. Will they succeed? The first issue will be a big indication.

Original Sin #1
Original Sin #1 (of 8) (McGuinness Variant Cover Edition)
Creative Team
Jason Aaron and Mike Deodato
Solicitation
“WHO SHOT THE WATCHER? The Watcher, the mysterious space-god who’s been watching us from the moon for as long as we can remember . . . is dead. Thus begins the greatest murder mystery in Marvel Comics history. As Nick Fury leads the heroes of the Marvel Universe in an investigation, other forces are marshaling as well and other questions are arising. Why is Black Panther gathering a secret team of his own, including Emma Frost, the Punisher and Dr. Strange? Who is the Unseen? What was the Original Sin? What was stolen from the Watcher’s lair? And most importantly, who now holds the Marvel Universe’s darkest secrets in the palm of their hand?”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
I’ve been really looking forward to this new Marvel event solely because it is a murder mystery and as I mentioned with Batman Eternal, I’m a sucker for a good mystery. Issue #0 let us know more about the Watcher and now we bid him adieu. Who could have committed such a heinous crime and how? The plot thickens and it is only the second issue!
