On The Radar: Comic Book Coming Attractions 06/25/14

Radar

It is time once again to highlight the upcoming comics that I’m looking forward to the most, the ones that are On My Radar:

Batman #32
Batman #32
Creative Team

Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo
Solicitation
“The penultimate issue of ZERO YEAR is here! Batman gets one step closer to the endgame with The Riddler as the final chapter of ZERO YEAR: SAVAGE CITY draws closer to its stunning finale!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
This is it, the time has almost run out on this epic length storyline. With this being the second to last chapter you know the old saying “things are darkest before the dawn?” I expect that to be applicable here especially if the cover is any indication.

The Flash #32
Flash #32
Creative Team
Robert Venditti and Brett Booth
Solicitation

“Flash Facts for this issue: 1. The Flash confronts the serial killer stalking Central City! 2. Barry tries to repair his fractured relationship with Wally West! 3. Future Flash continues to move toward the present for a final confrontation with one of the Rogues! Who will he kill next?”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Balancing two story arcs in one issue takes some skill but juggling three takes a great deal of ability. The mystery of the serial killer using super-villain weapons sprung from the evidence room is a great idea and getting to witness the continual evolution of this brand-new Barry-Wally dynamic is another highlight. Last but not least, seeing this Future Flash’s uncharacteristic attitude and deplorable actions makes me look forward to his eventual confrontation between his present day self even more.

Justice League #31
Justice League #31
Creative Team

Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis
Solicitation
“Introducing the new Power Ring! But who is she? What does she want? And how will her presence affect the team?”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Learning more about the new Power Ring is interesting but what really has me excited is that upcoming Batman-Luthor conversation that is going to happen if the ending of the previous issue was any indication. Johns has a terrific handle on the former villain and the way that scene plays out alone should be quite memorable.

Ms. Marvel #5
Ms Marvel #5
Creative Team

G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona
Solicitation
“How does a young girl from Jersey City become the next biggest super hero? Kamala has no idea either. But she’s comin’ for you, New York.”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
It is routinely in my Top 5 any week it comes out so how can I not be looking forward to what is sure to be another quality chapter? Everyone deserves to give this book a chance and if you do I’m fairly confident you’ll be won over by its charm as well.

Superman #32
Superman #32
Creative Team

Geoff Johns and John Romita Jr.
Solicitation
“‘THE MAN OF TOMORROW’ chapter 1! A NEW ERA for SUPERMAN begins as Geoff Johns takes the reigns – and he’s joined by the legendary super-talent of John Romita, Jr. in his first-ever work for DC Comics as they introduce Ulysses, the Man of Tomorrow, into the Man of Steel’s life. This strange visitor shares many of Kal-El’s experiences, including having been rocketed from a world with no future. Prepare yourself for a run full of new heroes, new villains and new mysteries! Plus, Perry White offers Clark a chance to return to The Daily Planet!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Romita Jr. makes his long-awaited DC Comics debut this week and being teamed-up with one of their very best writers ensures that this comic has all the tools for something truly special.

    • Are the New Warriors still battling the High Evolutionary and his forces? Never been a fan of that character which turned me off of the initial arc after seeing his appearance in the first issue…

  1. I’m really looking forward to Batman #32 as well, this penultimate issue sounds brilliant! The Flash #32 is sure to be good as well, great new storyline, and it will be goo to find out more about the new Power Ring in JLA #31 I’m also looking forward to Ghost Rider #4 and Amazing Spiderman #3 I’m not that big a fan of Superman comics but I might give Superman #32 a chance as this is John Romita JR’s DC debut. Lots of great new comics to enjoy, can’t wait 😀

  2. The cover for Ms Marvel # 5 is phenomenal. I love the contrast between the warm colours used for the girl and the street lamp in the foreground and the dark colours used for the rest of the image.
Of course the detailed background is another huge plus of this cover. Add a starry sky, and here you have an image that worths 2,99 $ alone.

    • “Add a starry sky, and here you have an image that worths 2,99 $ alone.”
It is the best cover for this series so far and worthy of your praise. The cover draws you in by its beauty but you stick around for the excellent story inside. 🙂

  3. For me, I’m picking up Tomb Raider 5, Batman 32, Red Lanterns 32, Avengers Undercover 6, Guardians of the Galaxy 16, Ms. Marvel 5 (the one I’m looking forward to the most) and X-Force 6.

I jumped in to Red Lanterns when it started the Supergirl crossover, and it’s been very good so far. I might just stick with it.

I started Red Lanterns as soon as Guy Gardner joined the team. As for Supergirl, she made an appearance in Justice League United sans red ring so that makes me think her time as a Red is coming to a close soon. Too bad as I really enjoyed her dynamic with the team.

Also, thanks for sharing your pull-list!
