On The Radar: Comic Book Coming Attractions 07/16/14

Radar

It is time once again to highlight the upcoming comics that I’m looking forward to the most, the ones that are On My Radar:

Harley Quinn Invades Comic Con International San Diego #1
Harley Quinn Invades Comic Con Intl San Diego #1
Creative Team
Amanda Conner and Others
Solicitation
“The title says it all! Our favorite little troublemaker, Harley Quinn, takes on Comic-Con International: San Diego in this over the top issue! She’ll have to battle long lines, crazy crowds and the dread con crud, all in the quest to get her own comic book published!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
This one-shot is going to be just plain fun with a dash or two (or three) of some real meta moments. With a collection of artists in hand, it has the potential of running away with the first place prize for the week. Strong words, I know, but I have real faith that it will match the quality of Harley Quinn #0 and leave me with a big smile across my face.

Ms. Marvel #6
Ms Marvel #6
Creative Team
C. Willow Wilson and Jake Wyatt
Solicitation

“On the run from the Inventor, Kamala needs all the help she can get. Did someone say Wolverine?”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Kamala is going to have her first run-in with an actual Marvel hero and by having said hero be none other than Wolverine we can anticipate it is going to be quite memorable. I’m playing it out in my head as I type this and the more I type the more I get excited for what is going to come to fruition.

Robin Rises Omega #1
Robin Rises Omega #1
Creative Team

Peter J. Tomasi and Andy Kubert
Solicitation
“The hunt for Robin is over, and the battle joined! But Batman’s family feud with Ra’s al Ghul is about to erupt into something bigger when it’s interrupted by the forces of Apokolips!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
He’s back! Well, at least that is what they are making us believe. While being very coy about the identity of Batman’s new (or old) Robin, I’m crossing my fingers that it turns out to be one of my favourite characters, Damian Wayne. I’ll be on the edge of my seat the entire issue until the grand reveal!

Secret Avengers #5
Secret Avengers #5
Creative Team

Ales Kot and Michael Walsh
Solicitation
“‘THE DROP’ Death on the Helicarrier. The killer is at large. Hill leads the investigation. Another incident on board. No-one expects a proper acid bath. Coulson goes rogue. Hawkeye wonders. Spider-Woman talks with a new friend.”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
I’m a sucker for a good murder mystery and that is exactly what is going to happen here. Add that to those perfect teases and you have an issue that has it all…and I do mean all as the cover showcases a goat. A goat on roller-skates. A goat on roller-skates with missiles and a machine gun strapped to his back! This may be an even bigger mystery than the murder itself.

Teen Titans #1
Teen Titans #1
Creative Team

Will Pfeifer and Kenneth Rocafort
Solicitation
“Red Robin, Wonder Girl, Raven, Bunker and Beast Boy step out of the shadows of the adult heroes of the DC Universe to offer bold, exciting and sometime dangerous ideas on how to protect a world full of superpowered teenagers – any one of whom could be the next heroic figure or major villain!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
NEW SERIES ALERT! The time has come for another new volume of Teen Titans and all I can say is I pray it is better than the last. Right away we have the talented artist known as Kenneth Rocafort so already that is a huge step in the right direction. But art can only take you so far and it truly rests on the shoulders of the writer to impress us and show that he “gets” what these characters are all about. Otherwise, it could end even quicker than the previous volume did…
