My Overall Pick
Detective Comics #69. This cover has popped up routinely whenever someone references the Joker or is doing any documentary on Batman lore. A striking image with a gigantic Joker poised to take out the Dynamic Duo gets even quirkier when you notice that the Joker is emerging from a Genie’s lamp.

My overall favorite Bat – cover is Detective Comics # 615, for the reasons I listed here: https://thegothamrogue.wordpress.com/2013/06/02/covers-of-the-week-052913/. Special mention for Detective Comics # 567.
P.S.: Sorry, the correct link is: https://thegothamrogue.wordpress.com/2013/10/13/retroactive-detective-comics-1990-daredevil-1965/.
Picking only one cover out of 75 years of history is quite an accomplishment. I struggled mightily over just picking one from each decade! 🙂
Detective Comics #27 here’s were it all began, such a classic issue and a fantastic cover as well 😀
I know I’ll probably never own it but it would be the one comic above all else that I would love to have in my collection over all the rest. 2nd place would belong to Amazing Fantasy #15.
I totally agree, with Amazing Fantasy as well, truly classic issues 😀
Detective #476 with the Joker fish is another real big favourite of mine, really like this storyline as well, and the final battle here between Batman and the Joker is just stunning. Detective #478 featuring Clayface is a really spooky cover, with Batman finding the remains of one of Clayface’s victims. I always liked this version of Clayface best, the way he melted people into clay with a touch, it was really gruesome.
I agree that 476 is brilliant and creepy. I’ve never had the pleasure of reading it but it is my goal in life to eventually read every issue of Detective Comics ever produced. Quite a herculean task indeed. Thanks for sharing your favs! 🙂
#476 is one of my favorite issues, its brilliant. The final battle between Batman and the Joker in this issue, well its awesome! Well worth tracking down, stunning art at well 😀
What an amazing selection of covers! A great celebration of Batman comics for the 75th Anniversary! Have a brilliant Batman Day 😀
