On The Radar: Comic Book Coming Attractions 07/30/14

Radar

It is time once again to highlight the upcoming comics that I’m looking forward to the most, the ones that are On My Radar:

Five Weapons #10
Five Weapons #10
Creative Team
Jimmie Robinson
Solicitation
“‘BACK TO CLASS,’ Part Five This is it! Enrique races against time to save the school nurse as he battles against Tyler’s final plot, but an unexpected twist unleashes a new enemy who could destroy the school of Five Weapons and bring the world of assassins to an end.”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
The enemy stands revealed and the time has come for the battle for the school. How will Enrique outsmart this new threat? Will the Nurse live? And how will the school be irrevocably changed? The smashing finale to the second arc will answer all these questions and more.

Hawkeye #19

Creative Team
Matt Fraction and David Aja
Solicitation

“‘Rio Bravo’ – PART 4. The sense-shattering fallout of the Clint vs. the Clown — Clint Barton has been deafened! With the Barton Brothers this battered and bloodied, surely they’ll make easy pickins for the Bros, right? Bro? Seriously? If we do our jobs right THIS time, this issue will be the Dog Issue of Sign Language issues.”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
It has been a long time since we’ve gotten an issue of Hawkeye but when each issue is such a high-quality affair you really can’t blame them. This one looks to feature the entire issue in sign language as our intrepid hero has lost his sense of hearing. The Pizza Dog issue won an Eisner, will this one be a strong contender for next year’s awards? I think the answer is a resounding YES!

Justice League #32
Justice League #32
Creative Team

Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis
Solicitation
“Lex Luthor continues his acclimation to his life as a one of the world’s greatest heroes as they search for the mysterious power threatening to unravel our world. But are his sights really set on the Dark Knight? And are the Dark Knight’s set on him? Plus, someone else is targeting Luthor and his new allies – a man who believes himself Luthor’s superior in every way…and maybe he is! Here comes The Chief and his treacherous Doom Patrol to The New 52!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
The new incarnation of the Doom Patrol have arrived and how they will affect the DC Universe is going to be interesting. Whatever may happen, we know that Geoff Johns’ portrayal of Luthor should be as excellent as ever as this new era of Justice League marches on.

The Sandman: Overture #3
Sandman Overture #3 (of 6) (Cover B)
Creative Team

Neil Gaiman and J. H. Williams
Solicitation
“The armies of the night are gathering. The universe is beginning its final dance. Morpheus, far from home, walks the path of madness, accompanied only by himself.”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
The wait between each issue is excruciating with the previous issue haven come out in March. 4 Months later and the next chapter is ready for us but are we truly ready for the sheer awesomeness that is about to unfold before our eyes? This visual spectacle is guaranteed to blow us away as we get tangled in Gaiman’s intricate and complex narrative.

Sinestro #4
Sinestro #4
Creative Team

Cullen Bunn and Rags Morales
Solicitation
“Sinestro and Hal Jordan cross paths for the first time since Sinestro brutally murdered the Guardians! Can Hal stop Sinestro from assembling a universe-threatening army? And even more crucial: SHOULD he?”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Any time you get Hal Jordan and Sinestro together you know that there is going to be tension, there is going to be fireworks, and there is going to be one hell of a good time for us. Reuniting the two since the conclusion of Geoff Johns’ run should prove to be quite an entertaining event and how it will all go down and what the fallout will be has me enthralled.
