  1. I really like the cover of Legends of the Dark Knight #161 as well. I like the cartoony style of this cover, with criminals attack Batman while he tries to hold onto Barbara Gordon so she doesn’t fall. Its a really exciting cover. Daredevil #vol 2 #38 is a great Christmas style cover, with the snow falling, and DD perched high above the city, this cover has an almost magical quality to it. A great selection of covers for this retroactive 😀

Not only did you and I agree but wwayne as well. It was a trifecta this week!

This cover is awesome and earns my third place award. Anytime you include snow it just overall equals an even better cover similar to the effect rain has on other covers.

      Thanks for providing your choices!

  2. Superheroes are self – confident. If they weren’t, they couldn’t fight crime: not only because it takes a lot of courage to do that, but also because a superhero without self – confidence won’t strike terror into the crooks he has to fight against.
That’s why it is so shocking when we see a superhero looking lost, upset and vulnerable: we’re used to see him calm and perfectly in control of himself, so we would never expect to see him in such a bad state. Especially Daredevil, who is known as the man without fear.
This is the main reason why Daredevil # 27 is so effective and eye – catching: because it shows our hero hiding his face with his hands and gnashing his teeth, and this definitely is an eye – widening vision.
I also love the elaborate details of the building under his feet, his body being lit up from the bottom upwards (usually it’s just the opposite), the tagline “The man without fear” covered by Matt’s arm (perhaps this is a way to underline that he’s not the man without fear anymore)… yes, this cover definitely deserves the gold medal.
As for Bruce, when I saw LOTDK # 161, I instantly understood it would have won the gold medal, even if I hadn’t seen the other covers yet. No surprise that you picked it as well. I’m sure that, if we asked 100 people to pick a Bat – cover from the 12 you uploaded in your post, at least 80 of them would agree with us.
Special mention for LOTDK # 172, because it shows 3 details that are really eye – pleasing for me: neon lights, a night club and graffiti.

I love your overall analysis of the cover especially your hypothesis about covering up the “Man Without Fear” tagline. The lighting is indeed unusual and I really like the design going on in the background. One of the figures resembles a skeleton to me. Not only is Daredevil falling apart before our eyes but it gives off a real horror vibe as well. Great pick. For me my runner-up is #32. I love the incorporation of the newspaper with an image of Matt Murdock. Then we add the red marker outline around him in the shape of Daredevil complete with the logo and we are led to believe that someone or possibly the paper itself might have discovered his secret.

Not only the two of us but Paul Bowler as well. When we are all in agreement you know it is an awesome image.

Not only that but you and I are in agreement over the runner-up as well! 🙂

Thanks, as always, for the terrific analysis and sharing your selections.
