Really liked the cover of Batman #34 by by Matteo Scalera, it’s such a striking images, and captures the dark tone of this issue perfectly.
Sorry to disturb you Paul, I just wanted to tell you that you skipped one Retroactive post: https://thegothamrogue.wordpress.com/2014/08/19/retroactive-the-flash-1995-uncanny-x-men-2002/. Have a nice day! : )
Thank you Wwayne, I’ve not been that well this week, so not online as much, cheers will check it out 😀
I’m sorry to hear that. I hope you are feeling better now.
Thank you. I’m on the mend. Recovering from a chest infection, so just taking things a bit easy as the moment.
Awesome art on the outside, awesome art on the inside. I call that a win-win!
Almost too many good covers from DC this week. It’s almost too hard to pick from the top 3.
And that is the best type of week there is. 🙂
My podium is:
Bronze medal: Harley Quinn # 9
Silver medal: Batgirl # 34
Gold medal: Batman Eternal # 19
I’m really sorry that I didn’t give a better prize to Harley Quinn # 9. The question this cover raises (why is she winking at us while a cop is handcuffing her?) is so interesting that this cover probably would have won the gold medal in any other week. Unfortunately the 2 Bat – covers I mentioned are so beautiful from an aesthetic point of view that I really couldn’t exclude them from the highest spots of the podium.

I’m in total agreement with you. The line-up of covers was stellar this week. As for why she is winking, if you take a closer look at her hands it appears that she has the key to the cuffs in them. She’s breaking the fourth wall and letting us in on her plan which I really love.
Thanks for sharing you Rankings!
Mind – blown! This is a stellar 4th wall breaking cover, and I hadn’t even noticed it. Thank you as well for your replies! : )
P.S.: Here’s another gold medal deserving cover: http://fumettietruschi.wordpress.com/2014/08/16/raccolta-skorpio-482/.
“Skorpio” is an italian pulp magazine. : )
Very nice! Thanks for sharing. I never would have come across it otherwise.
