In this special edition I’ll highlight the upcoming comic book television shows that I’m looking forward to the most and then list the various other ones that I’m sure to watch as well. Without further ado:

Why I’m Looking Forward To It
I love Chew. It is a funny, zany, and truly engaging series from the minds of John Layman and Rob Guillory. Originally the series was going to be adapted as a live-action show but it fell through which may have been for the better. The world of Chew is more suited to the animated medium and already Steven Yeun and Felicia Day have signed on to lend their vocal talents. The plan is to release it straight to DVD which works for me as I can digest each arc all at once instead of waiting week to week.

Daredevil
Network
Netflix
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Marvel’s first Netflix series looks to do the character justice. Awhile back I mentioned that I thought the character of Daredevil would work better as a series than a movie and this show looks to prove me right. The casting looks excellent and it is my hope that the show can capture what makes this comic series so popular and beloved. Gritty, dark, and action-packed makes for a terrific combination for a series that looks to be a perfect example of a Marvel show done right. Also, out of all the Netflix shows this has the potential for multiple seasons above the rest due to the comic’s rich and storied history.

Iron Fist
Network
Netflix
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Speaking of gritty and dark, this series features another character I have a great affinity for. Barring his latest comic series, Danny Rand is one kick butt superhero who also has a sense of humor. Epic fight scenes should be found aplenty while the tragic origin plays out before our eyes as we witness a young boy become a man. If they base it on the Brubaker/Fraction run then it will be that much better.

Marvel’s The Defenders
Network
Netflix
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
What is better than a show starring Daredevil, a show starring Luke Cage, a show starring Iron Fist, and a show starring Jessica Jones? How about a show where all four of them unite? What worked for Marvel in their movieverse with the Avengers looks to be replicated with their Netflix shows. Introducing each character individually and them combining them together looks to replicate that magic once again.

Titans
Network
TNT
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Here is what we know so far: this show is going to feature Nightwing, Starfire, and Raven. That’s all I really need to know to be excited about this show. Seeing a superhero team assemble on the small screen, a team that is sure to provide drama and action sounds like a surefire recipe for success. It will take the right casting, a solid writing staff, and a network that is willing to spend some money but if all three areas are covered this has the potential to be something special indeed.

And the title of my Most Anticipated Comic Book TV Show goes to….
Marvel’s The Defenders
The Avengers of the small screen look to deliver a similar experience that seeks to wow us. Building up to this moment shows patience while also increasing my interest tenfold.

With that said, the final tally stands at DC – 3 Shows, Marvel – 6 Shows, and the Independents – 3 Shows. What are the ones that you are most looking forward to? Comment below!
Wow, some awesome TV shows to look forward to, especially the Defenders! Gonna be awesome 😀
I think I’ll have to get Netflix just for these shows. 🙂
I might as well, certainly been considering it as I’d like to see these shows. Not sure how much it costs though so will have to look into it.
Otherwise I’m sure they’ll release it on DVD later which I will most assuredly snap up.
Yes, that will be a great DVD set, I would certainly get that as well 😀
