On The Radar: Comic Book Coming Attractions 11/12/14

Radar It is time once again to highlight the upcoming comics that I’m looking forward to the most, the ones that are On My Radar:

Batman #36
Batman #36
Creative Team
Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo
Solicitation
“‘Endgame,’ part 2 – it’s a story arc so steeped in mystery, all we can tell you is the title!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
The ending of the first part surprised me. So little was known about this arc going into it and then came that last page reveal that made everyone stand at attention. This follow-up looks to start right where we left off and I’m on the edge of my seat to see where Snyder takes us next.

Hawkeye VS Deadpool #2

Creative Team

Gerry Duggan and Matteo Lolli
Solicitation

“The Avenging Archer and the Merc with the Mouth are one step closer to solving their Halloween whodunit–but things aren’t what they seem! With villains masquerading as heroes, who can Deadpool and Hawkeye trust? And no, it’s not one another. The most beloved (and simultaneously annoying) duo is on the case!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
I’ve immensely enjoyed this mini-series so far, a mini that is the perfect blend of humor and action. The interplay between the two title characters is simply splendid. My only complaint? That this mini isn’t an ongoing!

She-Hulk #10
She-hulk #10
Creative Team

Charles Soule and Javier Pulido
Solicitation
“THE GOOD OLD DAYS, CONCLUSION! She-Hulk and Daredevil battle it out in the court and on the streets. And it finally comes down to this–is Captain America guilty?”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Marvel’s trial of the century comes to an end as She-Hulk faces an uphill battle to get Captain America a not guilty verdict especially after he admitted to the crime in the first place. Sayeth what? The previous issue was filled with legal goodness and the concluding chapter leaves me wondering just how on Earth our heroine will pull out said victory. She will succeed…right?

Silver Surfer #7
Silver Surfer #7
Creative Team

Dan Slott and Michael Allred
Solicitation
“‘We are Sailors on An Endless Sea of Night’ The Surfer and Dawn travel further into the Marvel U than any being has ever gone . . . only to find an empty starless void. And one other thing . . . a lone lighthouse, floating in infinity. What is its secret? And what else is out there in the darkness? Also in this issue: Surprise characters from long ago are officially brought into Marvel Continuity. You won’t believe it till you see it.”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
For six consecutive issues Slott and Allred have crafted a series that keeps getting better with each subsequent chapter. If you are a fan of amazing art, great stories, and just plain outside-the-box ideas then you owe it to yourself to check this series out.

Superior Iron Man #1
Superior Iron Man #1
Creative Team

Tom Taylor and Yildiray Cinar
Solicitation
“Be Superior! How much would you pay for perfection? Beauty? Immortality? Tony Stark knows, and he’s ready to give it to you in SUPERIOR IRON MAN #1! But at a terrible price. Spinning out of Avengers & X-Men: AXIS, the old Tony Stark is back, only this time he’s SUPERIOR! More stylish, more confident, and more cunning than ever before. And he’s ready to lead you into the future! San Francisco is about to become the prototype for his new world concept. The first step? Release Extremis upon the entire city! Only Daredevil isn’t down with Stark’s new vision of the future. Does the Man Without Fear have a place in the city of tomorrow? A bold new direction for the Armored Avenger begins this November from the all-new creative team of Tom Taylor (Injustice: Gods Among Us, Earth 2) and Yildray Cinar (Supergirl)!
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
NEW SERIES ALERT! Yes I know. Another new series of Iron Man? Well the direction we are heading with the character combined with a stellar new creative team makes this worthy of a relaunch. Seeing the word “superior” in the title brings back fond memories of Superior Spider-Man and if this new volume can attain some semblance of the awesomeness that was that series then we are in for one enjoyable debut issue. Tony Stark full of himself? Extremis on the loose? Special guest-star Daredevil? This issue has it all!

  1. Really looking forward to Batman #36 the cover alone is almost too awesome for words! Will check out Superior Iron Man as well, sounds interesting, with Tom Taylor writing, and I like Yildiray Cinar’s art as well, so high hopes for this title as I haven’t really read Iron Man comics for a while. Have a great new comic book day 😀

    • I’m fairly confident that Batman #36’s stunning cover will make my COTW for sure. As for Superior Spider-Man, you can’t go wrong with the creative team involved. I’m crossing my fingers they live up to the promise. Have an awesome NCBD as well!

  2. My most anticipated comics are between Captain Marvel and She Hulk, with Death Vigil 5 not far behind. Also picking up Batman and Batgirl 36, Justice League United 6 (the surprisingly good annual convinced me to give it at least a few more issues), Red Sonja 13, Nightcrawler 8 and Thor 2.

I might pick up Captain America and the Mighty Avengers 1, but I’m considering waiting until the Axis tie-ins end before i pick it up. Also might pick up Logan Legacy 4 (Lady Deathstrike’s one-shot), but probably not since I don’t really care much for the character either way and so far each character issue stands on its own.

    • Death Vigil just missed my Top 5 this week. It has been consistently excellent each time it comes out. I haven’t checked the sales but I hope they warrant a follow-up mini.

It is nice to hear that JLU earned a stay of execution for you. I’ll be interested to see if it keeps up the quality of the annual or if it reverts back to its opening arc.

I’m also undecided for CA & TMA. I’ll pick it up off the shelf, leaf through it, and see if anything stands out.

Thanks for sharing your pull-list and providing your commentary. It is always fun hearing from you and seeing where another comic fan’s head is at.
