It is time for the best covers from the week that was. A quick reminder: only comics that I personally have purchased qualify for this piece. If a title contains more than one cover, only the one I own is taken into consideration. Now without further ado:

Not the least bit surprised that you gave Rocket Raccoon the cover of the week. That whole issue was pure delight packaged into 20 pages of, well … delight.
“I…am…Groot!” Translation: You are completely and unequivocally right. 🙂
Bronze medal for Detective Comics # 36, for the very reasons you listed. John Paul Leon has a dark artistic style that is simply perfect for a Bat – story.
Silver medal for Batman Eternal # 31, because making Alfred and Bane join forces is a narrative stroke of genius that deserves a medal alone. By the way, last week I read Batman Eternal # 26, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. By far the best issue of Batman Eternal I’ve read so far (but I read only issues # 5, # 13, # 17 and # 26 – 28).
Gold medal for Gotham Academy # 2. I love the gorgeous tones of red, orange and yellow used for the background, and I also appreciate the fact that this cover raises a lot of questions: why is her hair white? Why is she blinded? The fire behind her suggests that the mask she holds in her hand must have an incredible power: what could that mask do?
It was looking like we were going to be three for three, something that I don’t believe has ever transpired since the inception of this blog. Then comes Gotham Academy #2 to derail that moment. 🙂

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. The series has generally been really good with only a select few issues not being to my liking. It has also been so successful that what was originally only going to be 52 issues is now going to be going on for another year.
Thanks for sharing your Rankings and providing your commentary.
“It has also been so successful that what was originally only going to be 52 issues is now going to be going on for another year.” I didn’t know that! That’s an awesome news.
