Between The Continuity – 16 Days That Deserve Your Attention

So Reid Vanier of Modern Mythologies is doing something very special for the next 16 days and is enlisting fellow bloggers to unite for a very good cause. What is this cause you ask? I’ll let Reid take over here:

“Amnesty International’s “16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence” is an annual campaign to raise awareness and donations to help fight gender-based violence worldwide. In support of this effort, a small group of comics bloggers (including myself, Arousing Grammar, and The Speech Bubble) will be drawing attention to this social and humanitarian issue by highlighting some of the moments where comic books have failed to defend against gender violence. The campaign runs from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day). For more information on our comics-related support of the campaign, click HERE. To learn more about Amnesty International, how you can help, or to donate, please click HERE.”

Being included with such illustrious company as Arousing Grammar and Modern Mythologies is quite an honor indeed and I hope that the three of us can shed some light on a very serious issue. All credit should really go to Reid as he is the one that organized this blogging event while Arousing Grammar has already kicked off the postings with Part 1 of his look at Aquaman, Mera, and their Aquababy. For my part, I’m going to turn a spotlight on Black Canary and the heinous beating she received in the Longbow Hunters series. Look for my feature entitled Lost Voice: How The Canary Lost Her Cry sometime during the first week of December. I’ll also be sharing links to all other articles created over the next 16 days and I strongly encourage everyone to visit the Amnesty International link and make a donation. Thanks Reid for organizing this and including me, thanks to my fellow bloggers who are participating, and thank you to everyone who donates!
