On The Radar: Comic Book Coming Attractions 12/31/14

Radar Each week, countless titles see release from all the various comic companies out there. With that said, it is time once again to highlight the upcoming comics that I’m looking forward to the most, the ones that are On My Radar:

Batman Eternal #29
Batman Eternal #29

Scott Snyder and Simon Coleby
Solicitation
“Hell is bursting out of Arkham Asylum, and the only being that can stop it is The Spectre – but first he must stop himself from razing all of Gotham City!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
I’ll be the first to admit that the Spectre/Batwing portions of Batman Eternal are the weakest parts of the title for me but the above solicitation sure makes it seem that we are going to get a great internal battle taking place alongside the external one. That has my interest piqued for sure.

Earth 2: World’s End #13
Creative Team

Daniel H. Wilson and Eddy Barrows
Solicitation

“Will Huntress become a casualty of war?”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Every week Earth 2: World’s End continues to perform excellently. I’m invested in the series which is already hitting its halfway point. It is the exact opposite of Futures End and for that I am very happy.

S.H.I.E.L.D. #1
S.H.I.E.L.D. #1
Creative Team

Mark Waid and Carlos Pacheco
Solicitation
“High-tech weapons. High-stakes missions. High-octane adventure! For the men and women of S.H.I.E.L.D., it’s just another day in the field! Special Agent Phil Coulson brings together the best and the brightest, the gifted and the elite, normal people and superhumans from across the Marvel Universe on an as-needed basis to confront, combat and curtail dangers beyond the scope of any conventional peace-keeping force! Writer Mark Waid (DAREDEVIL) and a rotating crew of mission-specific top flight Marvel artists make you one promise: Every issue: Twenty pages. One mission. Unlimited budget. Unlimited imagination. Six periods. And a helper monkey. Welcome to Level Eight. Welcome to S.H.I.E.L.D.”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Ever since the later episodes of Season 1 and continuing with Season 2, the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show has been finding its stride. Now we look to adapt those characters who originated on the show and incorporate them into the larger Marvel Universe. How different they will be is a big question but with the very talented Mark Waid in charge this should be something quite memorable.

  1. My pull list is maybe SHIELD, and nothing else. There’s hardly anything coming out this week, which will at least give my wallet a break. I’ll just have to post about some of my favourite comics this year instead, or just a broad “favourite things” post that half covers comics.

  2. Batman Eternal has really been doing great so that is the one for me and maybe the Star Trek/Planet of the Apes crossover. SHIELD is the one I am looking forward to the least. Might still read it, but there is literally no excitement for it on my end.
