wwayne Presents – Retroactive: Gotham Central 2005 & Generation X 1996

In Retroactive we take you on a visual comic cover tour of the past covering all the covers for a particular series. Each entry will cover an entire year and we’ll always have one comic from DC and one comic from Marvel. At the end of each edition of Retroactive one of us will select our overall favourite cover for that year for each series. Last time on Retroactive we covered Gotham Central 2004 and Generation X 1996. If you need a refresher, just click HERE. Below you’ll find the two series that wwayne is currently covering. Click on that specific logo to be instantly taken directly to that series. The last section is reserved for wwayne’s Top Picks from each year. Click the logo or travel to the fourth page to view them.

  1. Gotham Central #26 is a great snowbound cover, love the graveyard setting with Catwoman perched on one of the headstones. Very effective! Generation X Annual 1996 is really nice, I love those wraparound covers, they were always done so well.

“Generation X Annual 1996 is really nice, I love those wraparound covers, they were always done so well.” I knew for sure you would have chosen this one! 🙂 My runner – up is Generation X # 21: a heated fight scene, the eye – catching flames all around Chamber, the question – raising presence of Howard the Duck next to him… as I wrote in the post, Generation X # 20 won hands down in my personal ranking, but the subsequent cover could have grabbed the gold medal in any other year.
Bronze medal for Generation X # 17, because of its light – hearted atmosphere and the 4th wall breaking presence of Stan Lee.
Thank you for providing your picks! 🙂
