On The Radar: Comic Book Coming Attractions 02/18/15

Radar Each week, countless titles see release from all the various comic companies out there. Some will be good, some will be bad, and some will be downright excellent. Of course, we don’t know which will be which but what we do know is which are our most anticipated. With that said, it is time once again to highlight the upcoming comics that I’m looking forward to the most, the ones that are On My Radar:

Solicitation
“For months, Batgirl’s been hounded by an unseen threat claiming to be the ‘real’ Batgirl…and the truth of her enemy’s identity will shock her to her very core!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
I’m a sucker for a good mystery and learning that we will discover the identity of Batgirl’s mystery adversary has my mind racing. Whoever could it be? I cannot wait to find out!

Iron Fist: The Living Weapon #9
Iron Fist Living Weapon #9

Kaare Andrews
Solicitation

“THE TRIUMPHANT RETURN OF DANNY RAND! No more hiding! Danny Rand comes home. The choice must be made once again: LIFE OR DEATH?”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
This series has really found its stride over these last few issues, getting better and better with each subsequent chapter. Kaare has torn down and now built back up our hero as he looks to do battle with the villain who has caused so much damage and death. Kaare is the perfect example of one man doing both the art and the story without sacrificing in either area

Ms. Marvel #12
Ms Marvel #12
Creative Team

C. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona
Solicitation
“Love is in Jersey City as Valentine’s Day arrives! Kamala Khan may not be allowed to go to the dance, but Ms. Marvel is! Well sort of – by crashing it attempting to capture Asgard’s most annoying trickster! Yup, it’s a special Valentine’s Day issue featuring Marvel’s favorite charlatan, Loki!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Kamala and Loki in the same issue? ‘Nuff said.

She-Hulk #12

Creative Team

Charles Soule and Javier Pulido
Solicitation
“FINAL ISSUE! The end of the Blue File…and the end of an era! But when one door closes, another one opens, and Jen finds herself face to face with her most important case yet.”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
All good things must come to an end. That is the sad truth for this series as we have reached its final issue. Soule has done an exemplary job with the character which makes this ending all the more hard to swallow. Said ending though, should be one hell of an issue.

Silver Surfer #9

Dan Slott and Michael Allred
Solicitation
“This is the moment everything changes. There is no coming back from this. SILVER SURFER VS. GALACTUS! Don’t read this comic alone. You’re going to need someone close by.”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Really they had me at Silver Surfer versus Galactus but then they have to mention that we shouldn’t read this comic alone. What great tragedy will our hero encounter? You don’t think…. No, they wouldn’t kill…. I shudder at the thought. An epic confrontation mixed with the uncertainty of what is going to unfold has my undivided attention.

    • Buffy has been awesome, much improved over the previous season. A big reason for that is the very talented duo of Christos Gage and Rebekah Isaacs. Great art and fantastic character moments filled with action and slice-of-life events.

  1. She hulk is also my most anticipated comic. It’s sad to see it go, but all interviews seem to suggest that Charles Soule planned for a 12-issue series anyway. If that’s the case, She Hulk 12 won’t feel rushed and will conclude everything well. Batgirl and Ms. Marvel are my other most anticipated titles.

It’s a big week for me. In addition to those three, I’m picking up Supergirl, IXth Generation 2, Red Sonja 100, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 43, Bitch Planet 3, Black Widow 15, Legendary Star Lord 9, Magneto 15, Rocket Raccoon 8, Uncanny X-Men 31 and Wolverines 7. Since that’s already 14 comics (and I usually read them all in one sitting before my first impressions post), I’ll probably save Red Sonja 100 for later and won’t even bother blogging about it.
