Each week, countless titles see release from all the various comic companies out there. Some will be good, some will be bad, and some will be downright excellent. Of course, we don’t know which will be which but what we do know is which are our most anticipated. With that said, it is time once again to highlight the upcoming comics that I’m looking forward to the most, the ones that are On My Radar:

All-New X-Men #40
Creative Team
Brian Michael Bendis and Mahmud A. Asrar
Solicitation
“Who are the Utopians? And what secret do they hold that pertains to the future of mutantkind? The All-New X-Men may regret finding out!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Bendis has been teasing the arrival of the Utopians for a while now so that has just increased my anticipation for this mysterious group’s appearance. Not only are their identities a big question mark but what kind of impact they will have on this title during its final two issues is another looming puzzle.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 10 #14
Creative Team
Christos Gage and Rebekah Isaacs
Solicitation
“While traveling into Spike’s mind and seeing his past and present, Buffy looks for clues about the newest threat in San Francisco: someone or something with a deep connection to Spike!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Buffy diving into Spike’s memories is such an amazing concept. I mean seeing her reaction to his various thoughts and history ranging from adorably embarrassing to shockingly vile provides us with one enjoyable rollercoaster of a good time.

Guardians of the Galaxy #26
Creative Team
Brian Michael Bendis and Valerio Schiti
Solicitation
“It seems like the Guardians have forgotten something in all the cosmic craziness that’s been going on . . . Oh . . . that’s right . . . Peter got elected President of Spartax . . . wait WHAT?! Looks like he’s done a GREAT job escaping his father’s legacy. Guess he can even screw that up . . .”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Star-Lord as leader of an entire planet? What can possibly go wrong? But wait! Why are his teammates being arrested? Why is Rocket in a straightjacket? What is going on? Why would Peter turn on his buddies? All that and more can be found in this issue!

King Flash Gordon #3
Creative Team
Ben Acker and Lee Ferguson
Solicitation
“Subaquatic rescue! On the watery planet Coralia, Flash, Dale and Zarkov don Lung Machines to take on the deadly Octotusk and dine with the even deadlier Queen Darya! Will Team Flash be chewed alive, or live long enough to face the approaching forces of the Merciless Ming!?”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
I have to admit that when the previous volume ended, I was going to skip this title. I’m so happy that I changed my mind. Like a comic with a pulp feel? Like a comic with fantastic art? Like a comic with both action and humor? If you answered yes to any of those questions, then this is a series you should check out. Going by the solicitation alone, this latest chapter looks to be yet another home run!

Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #4
Creative Team
Ryan North and Erica Henderson
Solicitation
“The final showdown between Galactus and Squirrel Girl is here! It’s the Power Cosmic versus the Power Chestnut: WHO WILL WIN? Also, Squirrel Girl is late for class. So there’s TWO disasters coming!!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
The epic battle you never knew you wanted to see reaches its conclusion! Batman VS Superman? Pffft. Squirrel Girl VS Galactus is where the excitement (and most definitely the fun) is at.

Reid Vanier’s Top Pick
Convergence: Hawkman #1
Creative Team
Jeff Parker, Quique Alcatena, and Tim Truman
Solicitation
“STARRING HEROES FROM CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS! Hawkman and Hawkgirl put their Shadow War on hold as they face the might of anthropomorphic rat-men and bat-men in the deadly land of Kamandi!“
Why He Is Looking Forward To It
I am a sucker for Hawkman. It doesn’t matter how convoluted the continuity gets or how outrageously inconsistent the characterization is, I will always at least attempt to read a Hawkman story. What I am hopeful for in this tie-in is for the best parts of the Hawkman/Hawkgirl relationship to shine through. These characters are at their strongest when they are fully committed to each other – this is true as both the Golden Age Carter and Shiera Hall and the Silver Age Katar and Shayera Hol. Picking up just after the Shadow War effectively places the characters in one of their strongest written eras (in my opinion), which is a good starting point for writer Jeff Parker. But I think an equally strong choice is to pit the Hawks against the world of Kamandi. For some reason, one of the Hawks’ most frequent foes were the bizarrely grotesque Man-Hawks (giant hawks with humanoid heads). The animal-people of Kamandi’s world therefore make a perfect fit for a confrontation that should be both brutal and extremely strange.

With that said, the final tally stands at DC Comics (11 Issues), Marvel (6 Issues), and Independent (2 Issues). So that’s my Pull List for the week. What’s yours? What comics are you most looking forward to? Comment below!
I’m not reading Squirrel Girl (might pick it up in trade), but man that cover’s awesome.
Anyway, I’m picking up Velvet 10, All New X-Men 40, Amazing X-Men 19, Black Vortex Omega, Black Widow 17, Wolverines 15 and Guardians of the Galaxy 26. The Black Vortex hasn’t been as good in the second half, but hopefully the final issue can turn that around.
My most anticipated is All New X-Men, with Velvet 10 not far behind (Great espionage series by Ed Brubaker.) Black Widow 17 isn’t far behind either.
Squirrel Girl has been a lighthearted and funny series. I recommend checking out the first trade for sure. All-New X-Men was interesting before but the leaked story content that hit the web makes me think “why would Bendis feel the need to do that?” It really doesn’t line up with the character whatsoever. I’ll see if my mind changes when I read the actual issue and see how it is handled. I can’t wait to read what you think of it.
Thanks for sharing your pull for the week! 🙂
I agree with you on the new revelations, but as someone who isn’t a huge fan of Iceman, I kind of don’t care. There’s probably just not enough time to see if he can justify this change.
All-New X-Men, My Little Pony, and of course, Squirrel Girl. It’s a really light week, but on the plus side, Squirrel Girl!
Squirrel Girl always brings a smile to my face and I really love the little comments on the bottom of each page. A terrific series for sure. 🙂
