In #Trending, Sam will highlight and offer his opinions on any comic-related news that occurred during the week. This will included news about comic books, comic-related movies, TV shows, video games, etc. including sharing any hot trailers that were released.Let’s begin:
David Ayer has shown off the cast of Suicide Squad in full costumes and everything is looking pretty good. Katana (who hadn’t been confirmed as a part of the film) is looking spot on. A close up of Will Smith as Deadshot has also been put online. On the side of that, Ben Affleck has been spotted in Canada near the filming of the movie, perhaps indicating a Batman appearance.
Age of Ultron was finally released in North America this week, opening to a $191.3 million weekend. This is lower than the predicted $200+ million, but still captures the title of being the 2nd highest opening weekend in the US.
Still related, you must watch this video of Jeremy Renner justifying his role amongst the super-powered Avengers to the tune of Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud on Jimmy Fallon.
Photos emerged this week from the filming of the TMNT sequel with Megan Fox channeling her inner Brittany and the first look at Stephen Amell masked up and armed with the traditional hockey gear (a little disappointed that the long hair isn’t there though). We also have a new Shredder, with Brian Tee being cast.
Some set photos have popped up online as the production of X-Men: Apocalypse began this week. We got the first look at Sophie Turner and Lana Condor in costume as Jean Grey and Jubilee and also a little video promo of Nightcrawler.
Production has begun for a new Dragon Ball series, called Dragon Ball Super to be released in Japan in July. The series comes following Goku’s battle with Majin Buu.
1) Some Fantastic posters: Fox has released a new banner and four character posters for the upcoming Fantastic Four film, giving a new close up look at the characters.
2) Batman V Superman art: Some more promo material for the upcoming Batman V Superman has been revealed, with a unedited look at Ben Affleck in the Bat-cowl and concept art of Gal Gadot in her armour. The added cape for her costume is bad-ass.
3) Arkham Knight DLC: Details of the expansions for the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight have been released, announcing a Season Pass and Premium Edition. I won’t get bogged down in the specifics but the important news is that Batgirl will be a playable character.
4) Bat-chat: Following the conclusion of the Endgame story arc, Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo hit up twitter answering questions regarding the future of Batman. You can go read it all on their twitter accounts: https://twitter.com/ssnyder1835 & https://twitter.com/GregCapullo.
