Wow! It has been a crazy two weeks and for good reason. First of all, I want to apologize for my sporadic postings on the Speech Bubble but it is all for a very good reason for I have been hard at work creating my new online partnership with the owner of my Local Comic Shop. That is right, my dream has become a reality. Now I know it will be a lot of work getting myself established and finding what exactly works in terms of advertising but I am excited for the future. Featuring 385 single issue comics and 93 graphic novels from the August PREVIEWS, Hourglass Comics Online is live at www.hourglasscomicsonline.com. While we currently only ship within Canada, I’d love to hear what everyone thinks about the site. I’ve also created a Facebook page at www.facebook.com/hourglasscomicsonline. Beyond a page that promotes deals and promotions, the Facebook page is also going to be a place that people can discuss comics and where I will be sharing not only features from the Speech Bubble but features from my fellow WordPress Bloggers and links to other comic-related Facebook sites. I’m optimistic for the future and am crossing my fingers that this year of change has truly begun.

I’m hoping to stabilize myself here, catch-up on some features, and reply to every comment that has been left. I’m still probably a week away from this occurring though so I thank you for the understanding.

On that note, this week’s offering of Between The Continuity has reached its end. I hope everyone has an excellent week and manages to read some great stuff. Until next time, I leave you with three words that sum up this blog and life in general:
Wow, this sound great!
Yes indeed!
The site’s off to a good start, and I like the simple design.
In celebration of the All New Wolverine announcement, I started writing an X-23 spotlight blog post if you’re interested in featuring it here.
Thanks for the feedback. As for the X-23 piece, I’d love to feature it on the Speech Bubble when you are done. I look forward to it. 🙂
I’m really glad that you disappeared because of this project, and not because you got fed up with your blog. I wish you all the best for your new experience.
Also, if you start shipping worldwide, please send me an e – mail: there are plenty of back issues I could buy from you.
By the way, in these first days of June I read these Convergence issues:
Green Arrow # 1 – 2
Titans # 1 – 2
Nightwing and Oracle # 1 – 2
Superboy # 1 – 2
Superman – The Man of Steel # 1 – 2
Batman: Shadow of the Bat # 1 – 2
Green Arrow and Shadow of the Bat were extremely awful; the other ones were quite fine, especially Titans and Nightwing and Oracle.
I also read the 2nd volume of Concrete Park: it was worse than the previous volume, but I still think that this series is a real gem.
Thank you for the well wishes. If we ever open up to International customers I’ll be sure to let you and everyone else know but I sadly think the shipping charge would be horrendous if I was to guess.
The Convergence titles were all over the place in terms of quality but Nightwing/Oracle was definitely the best of the bunch that you ordered. I’m almost done reading the last batch and then I’ll be posting my quick thoughts on the various series.
“I sadly think the shipping charge would be horrendous if I was to guess.” It depends. Sometimes I managed to have a parcel shipped here for only 12 US dollars, so maybe it wouldn’t be a lot more expensive to do the same thing from Canada.
“The Convergence titles were all over the place in terms of quality.” I completely agree with you. All of them were a blatant rehash of a novel by Stephen King, “Under the Dome”, and, even if you don’t consider this plagiarism, the concept has been executed in a quite pedestrian way.
“I’ll be posting my quick thoughts on the various series.” I can’t wait to read them! 🙂
Thank you for your reply! 🙂
The website looks good. Simple, easy to navigate! I am excited for you for your opportunity. Some day I want to run my own shop.
