In Retroactive we take you on a visual comic cover tour of the past covering all the covers for a particular series. Each entry will cover an entire year and we’ll always have one comic from DC and one comic from Marvel. At the end of each edition of Retroactive one of us will select our overall favourite cover for that year for each series. Last time on Retroactive we covered Gotham Central 2005 and Generation X 1997. If you need a refresher, just click HERE. Below you’ll find the two series that wwayne is currently covering. Click on that specific logo to be instantly taken directly to that series. The last section is reserved for wwayne’s Top Picks from each year. Click the logo or travel to the fourth page to view them.

Gotham Central #40 ominously states The End, well it certainly looks like it. A very dark scene. I like how the light spills from the doorway to catch the badge and gun, a gives a nice touch to this cover. You know how I love these wrap around covers for Generation X, so with two to pick from it was a little more difficult. Eventualy I settled on #25 as it kinda matched the dark Gotham vibe of the Gotham Central cover I picked. Anyway, great retroactive as always and love reading what issues you chose as well! Happy new comic book day!
“I like how the light spills from the doorway to catch the badge and gun, a gives a nice touch to this cover.” I agree with you, the composition and the use of light in this cover are extraordinary.
“Eventually I settled on #25 as it kinda matched the dark Gotham vibe of the Gotham Central cover I picked.” The cover you chose is great, but my runner – up is Generation X # 33: a blind alley, Skin holding a smoking gun, cartridge cases flying all over him… this image has a lot of details that are highly eye – pleasing for me and very unusual for this series, so it got very close to the gold medal. Of course the extremely enticing tagline is another huge plus of this cover.
I wish you a happy new comic book day too. Thank you for providing your picks! 🙂
Great choices Wayne! Always fun to hear what we all think about the different covers. Thank you & enjoy reading your new comics today as well.
