  1. High school is one of my favorite settings, no matter if it’s a comic book (like Generation X), a tv series (like Beverly Hills 90210) or a movie (like Dead Poets Society), so I select Flash # 201.
I picked this cover also because it reminds me of a marvellous Bat – story, Seduction of the Gun: even in that comic book one of the characters was an African-American boy on a wheelchair.
As for the X – Men, UXM # 110 is by far the most heated, dynamic and action packed cover of the year, so it wins the gold medal with ease in my personal ranking.
Another reason why this image won me over is the presence of Banshee. I’m very fond of this character because, when the awesome series called Generation X was still alive, he was the mentor of that team. He was a sort of Professor X for those mutants who were too young and untrained to fight with Cyclops, Wolvie and the other X – men.

And what an interesting cover it is. What could Flash have done to put this poor young man into a wheelchair? A fight with a super-villain causing collateral damage? The Flash not being fast enough? For me, my runner-up would have to go to Flash #200. The Flash just shot the President? Say what?

I agree that this is one amazing cover. Action-packed is an understatement and my personal runner-up by a mile. 🙂

Thanks, as always, for sharing your selections!

  2. I would choose Flash #194 as well, what a striking cover, with Flash watching the bride who is invisible expect for her dress, its so unusual. They always came up with such inventive covers for the Flash didn’t they! For the X-Men I choose Uncanny X_Men #113. What an action packed cover, with the X-Men battling Magneto inside his base beneath the volcano. This issue was brilliant, with Storm using her lockpicks to help the XMen escape from the horrible Nannie robot, before the team ambushed Magneto upon his return! And what a spectacular ending as well! Brilliant covers!!

Exactly. Some truly bizarre concepts that grab our attention and won’t let go.

And what a great caption as well: “Holocaust at the heart of a volcano–when falls Magneto!” Simply awesome.

Thanks for sharing your choices! 🙂

      • You’re welcome, really enjoying revisiting these great Flash and X-Men covers. They have been brilliant, especially this era of the X-Men, as I think they are brilliant.

Also, I’ve never had the pleasure of reading this issue but your summary has me intrigued!

      • Its a great issue. Magneto traps the X-Men so they cannot move properly or use their powers. I won’t say more as it’ll spoil it, but its a really good issue. Think this entire run is collected in the Essential Uncanny X-Men Vol 2, great and affordable way to enjoy these classic storylines all in one volume.
