On The Radar: Comic Book Coming Attractions 06/04/14

Radar

It is time once again to highlight the upcoming comics that I’m looking forward to the most, the ones that are On My Radar:

All-New X-Factor #9
All New X-Factor #9
Creative Team

Peter David and Carmine Di Giandomenico
Solicitation
“The team faces unexpected consequences for ‘saving’ a young girl. Plus: Gambit does something naughty.”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Ever since we got the whole “assembling the team” phase out of the way, this series has been rocking it with the last two issues getting better and better. I expect that trend to continue with this one as the team deals with their new arrival. And who is that woman with Gambit? I have a pretty good guess…

Iron Fist: The Living Weapon #3
Iron Fist Living Weapon #3

Creative Team
Kaare Andrews
Solicitation

“K’UN LUN IN RUINS! Ninja nurses versus killers in suits! Our villain’s face revealed, and it’s one terribly close to Danny Rand’s heart!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
After that dramatic cliff-hanger, I can’t wait to see what the next step is that Danny will take to in try to win back the freedom for the fabled city he once called home. The tease about unveiling the villain and said villain having a close connection to the Iron Fist is very intriguing as is the prospect of more stellar art and fantastic flashbacks by the very talented Kaare Andrews.

Loki: Agent of Asgard #5
Loki Agent Of Asgard #5
Creative Team

Al Ewing and Lee Garbett
Solicitation
“• Nobody else would have done it – because nobody else would have the nerve! Loki’s crew comes together to crack the deepest dungeons of Asgardia itself! • It’s the ultimate caper – but is there one plot twist too many for even the God of Trickery to handle? • This movie rated 😦 for tears before bedtime. ”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
This series has been consistently awesome since the first issue, every time giving us an unexpected twist. This one looks to be more of the same. Not only filled with twists, not only filled with a highly entertaining story, not only filled with fantastic dialogue, but also filled with dramatic beats and humours moments. This Ocean’s Eleven inspired issue features Loki teaming up with Thor. Tell me that isn’t worth the price of admission alone.

Original Sin #3
Original Sin #3 (of 8)
Creative Team

Jason Aaron and Mike Deodato
Solicitation
“ANSWERS AT ALL COSTS. • In the wake of last issue’s explosion of secrets, the heroes of the Marvel U are reeling, leaving Nick Fury to stand alone. • He Who Holds the Eye is still on the run, and now we meet his boss, the villainous mastermind behind the raid on the Watcher’s lair. • And in deep space, the Winter Soldier leads a team that uncovers the most bizarre murder of all. ”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Just when we think we know the answers, more questions come to the forefront. Giving us a healthy dose of answers leaves us satisfied while cooking up a new bevy of mysteries keeps us coming back. The perfect formula for success if I’ve ever seen one.

Superior Foes of Spider-Man #12
Superior Foes Of Spider-Man #12
Creative Team

Nick Spencer and Steve Lieber
Solicitation
“Voted one the best mainstream superhero comics of 2013 by THE ONION A.V. CLUB! Only Five villains stand between New York and total chaos. The problem? Those villains are the Superior Foes. Spencer, Lieber, and utter chaos on the streets of Manhattan. Buy it.”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
The wait has been too long. May was a month without a single issue of the Superior Foes of Spider-Man to be found and its been since March when we got our last taste of the regular creative team. Marvel says “Buy It”, I say “Buy It”, and you should say “I’ve Bought It” when all is said and done. You will not be disappointed!

  1. All-New X-Factor, Amazing X-Men Annual (probably), Iron Man, Loki, New Warriors.

I’m wondering if I should add Ghost. I do love me some Kelly Sue DeConnick. I’ll see if I can take a flip through the previous issues. See if they catch my interest.
