On The Radar: Comic Book Coming Attractions 05/28/14

Radar

It is time once again to highlight the upcoming comics that I’m looking forward to the most, the ones that are On My Radar:

Batman #31
Batman #31
Creative Team

Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo
Solicitation
“The second chapter of ‘ZERO YEAR – SAVAGE CITY’ reveals an entirely new Gotham City. Unraveling the mysteries set forth by the Riddler, Batman must learn to work with his new ally, Lieutenant Jim Gordon, and do whatever it takes to survive!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
It is a whole new Gotham as Snyder and Capullo’s lengthy Zero Year tale marches on. What we’ll get is more Riddler, more Batman-Gordon interactions, more riddles, more action, more gorgeous art! Can we really ask for anything more?

Deadpool #29
Deadpool #29
Creative Team
Gerry Duggan, Brian Posehn, and John Lucas
Solicitation

“The shocking truth about Deadpool’s family comes to light in DEADPOOL #29 – a tie-in to Original Sin! And the truth about the Merc With a Mouth upend the lives of those close to him in ways you never thought imaginable. Fan-favorite writers Gerry Duggan and Brian Posehn along with artist John Lucas craft an gut-wrenching tale about Wade’s past that might just be too much for him to handle!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Shedding a light on Deadpool’s past from when he was a little boy is quite an intriguing prospect as it is a time period that isn’t ever really explored. This issue looks to dial down the silliness and turn out a dramatic affair that not only will send ripples to the present day but also produce a comic that could be one of the best of the week.

The Flash #31
Flash #31
Creative Team
Robert Venditti and Brett Booth
Solicitation
“Continued from THE FLASH ANNUAL #3! Guest starring Future Flash, Future Mirror Master and…Wally West! The future is invading Central City and the fates of Wally West and his Aunt Iris hang in the balance!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Say what you want about the issue of changing Wally West’s race but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m enthralled to see where this story is headed. Add that to the fact the Flash of the Future is coming to the present and I am sold big-time!

Ms. Marvel #4
Ms Marvel #4
Creative Team
C. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona
Solicitation
“Marvel’s breakout hit, Ms. Marvel, continues as Kamala Khan discovers the dangers of her newfound powers. And unlocks a secret behind them as well. Don’t miss the boldest (and adorable-est!) hero to make her Marvel debut!”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
Three issues in and I’m really digging the character of Kamala Khan. I love exploring along with her the limits and rules of her new powers and am invested in what is transpiring, especially after that cliff-hanger ending from the third issue. The next chapter on her journey has arrived and I can’t wait to take that next step with her.

Nightwing #30
Nightwing #30
Creative Team
Tim Seeley and Mikel Janin
Solicitation
“The Bat Family is forced to face the brutal aftermath of FOREVER EVIL, but after everything they’ve been through, can they stand together?”
Why I’m Looking Forward To It
It is time to bid a fond farewell to Nightwing before the character drops the mask and becomes plain old Grayson for his relaunched title. Originally there was going to be an entirely different creative team involved with this final issue but by bumping them off and showcasing the new team you open up the opportunity to carry his established fan base onto the new title alongside the possibility of increasing his viewership when the new #1 hits. Nightwing is dead, long live Grayson!

  1. Looking forward to Batman #31think Zero Year has been really good, love the cover of this issue as well! Also excited out The Flash #31and seeing the continuation of the story from Flash Annual #3
Finally will be checking out Nightwing #30 sad this is the final issue. I’m not a fan of what happened to Nightwing in Forever Evil and I’m still not sure if I will follow the new series Grayson, really don’t like the idea of this new direction. I’m going to miss the Nightwing series a lot.

  2. For me, The Star Wars 8, Tomb Raider 4, Batman 31, Red Lanterns 31, Guardians of the Galaxy 15 and Ms. Marvel 4. The last Wednesday of the month always seems easy for me. I think this is also the first week I’ve ever been evenly split between Marvel, DC and other companies.
